The Philippine entertainment industry lost one of its oldest sparkles with veteran star and director Cloyd Robinson passing away. He was 71.<\/p>\n

Complications caused by Robinson’s diabetes and high blood pressure resulting in a heart attack took his life on Monday, August 31, according to his close friend, Josephine “Pen” Turqueza.<\/p>\n

Pen is the sibling of one of the late director’s talent, Mel Turqueza.<\/p>\n

In a text message to Philippine Entertainment Portal (PEP), Pen confirmed that it was around 9:00 p.m. when Robinson had a heart attack in their home at Silang, Cavite.<\/p>\n

“Dead on arrival po siya nang nadala sa<\/em> Carsigma Hospital sa GMA, Cavite (He was declared dead on arrival at the Carsigma Hospital in GMA, Cavite,” she added as reported by PEP.<\/p>\n

According to the report, they also wanted to hold a wake for Robinsons’s remains, however, the threat of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in their area prompted the health center to say no to the idea.<\/p>\n

Before taking the director’s cap, Robinson was an actor in the 1970s and early 1980s. He also dived into scriptwriting and talent management.<\/p>\n

He directed several movies including “Darna at Ding” in 1980, “Risa Jones: Showgirl” in 1979, “Tambay sa Disco” in 1980, and “Love Affair” in 1980.<\/p>\n

His last project was a role in the 2020 film “Ang Mananahi” directed by Dave Cecilio, where he was nominated as best actor in the 5th Sorok Short Film Festival.<\/p>\n

One of the stars who remembered Robinson is former actress Deborah Sun, who posted a photo of them together with the caption “Rest in Peace my dear friend.”<\/p>\n
