{"id":266875,"date":"2020-08-28T06:21:40","date_gmt":"2020-08-28T10:21:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/?p=266875"},"modified":"2020-08-28T06:22:22","modified_gmt":"2020-08-28T10:22:22","slug":"panelo-to-sison-duterte-will-outlive-you","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/2020\/08\/28\/panelo-to-sison-duterte-will-outlive-you\/","title":{"rendered":"Panelo to Sison: Duterte will outlive you"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_250196\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-250196\" style=\"width: 960px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/45736045_758497274485327_7508382623375294464_o.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-250196 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/45736045_758497274485327_7508382623375294464_o.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"960\" height=\"640\" srcset=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/45736045_758497274485327_7508382623375294464_o.jpg 960w, https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/45736045_758497274485327_7508382623375294464_o-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/45736045_758497274485327_7508382623375294464_o-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-250196\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Panelo issued the statement after Sison, in a Facebook post, disclosed the supposedly \u201cexpert opinion\u201d of a doctor who is privy to Duterte\u2019s \u201cmedical problem.\u201d (File <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/PresSpokespersonPH\/photos\/a.397841807217544\/758497271151994\/?type=3&amp;amp;theater\">photo<\/a>: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/PresSpokespersonPH\/\">Office of the Presidential Spokesperson\/Facebook<\/a>)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>MANILA<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 President Rodrigo Duterte will live longer than communist founding chair Jose Maria \u201cJoma\u201d Sison, Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo said on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Panelo issued the statement after Sison, in a Facebook post, disclosed the supposedly \u201cexpert opinion\u201d of a doctor who is privy to Duterte\u2019s \u201cmedical problem.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The doctor had said Duterte \u201cneeds a major surgery\u201d because the 75-year-old President only has \u201csix months\u201d to live in case he fails to undergo treatment, Sison claimed.<\/p>\n<p>Panelo, however, merely branded Sison\u2019s statement against Duterte as an \u201cill wish.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Baka mamaya, mauna ka pa sa kaniya<\/em>\u00a0(You might die earlier than him).<em>\u00a0Maniwala ka<\/em>\u00a0(Believe me), he will outlive you, Jose Maria Sison,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, Duterte bared that his doctor had advised him to stop drinking as his Barrett\u2019s esophagus was \u201cnearing Stage 1 cancer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Barrett\u2019s esophagus, as defined by the Washington-based National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive Kidney Diseases, is a condition in which tissue that is similar to the lining of the intestine replaces the tissue lining of the esophagus.<\/p>\n<p>Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque on Wednesday said the doctor\u2019s advice to Duterte was given \u201ca long time ago,\u201d before the former Davao City mayor became president.<\/p>\n<p>Roque also assured that Duterte has no serious illness and remains \u201cfit and healthy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Citing the alleged opinion of a doctor who personally knows Duterte, Sison said the Chief Executive has \u201conly some six months to live\u201d if he fails to undergo a surgery.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn view of the foregoing, he must get the surgery if he wants to live. But he must resign to undergo the surgery and have some years to recover,\u201d Sison added.<\/p>\n<p>Contrary to Sison\u2019s statement, Panelo said Duterte is \u201cstrong.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Kaya \u2018yung mga nagdarasal o nagwi<\/em>-wish\u00a0<em>na si Presidente ay may malubhang sakit, eh naku, bangungot lang po ninyo yun. Malakas si Presidente<\/em>\u00a0(So to those who are praying or hoping that Duterte would have a serious illness, that would just be your nightmare.
