{"id":265928,"date":"2020-08-20T04:03:34","date_gmt":"2020-08-20T08:03:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/?p=265928"},"modified":"2020-08-20T04:03:34","modified_gmt":"2020-08-20T08:03:34","slug":"palace-urges-church-to-be-patient-continue-online-mass","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/2020\/08\/20\/palace-urges-church-to-be-patient-continue-online-mass\/","title":{"rendered":"Palace urges Church to be patient, continue \u2018online\u2019 mass"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_248263\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-248263\" style=\"width: 1024px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Blnazarene3jf.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-248263 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Blnazarene3jf-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" srcset=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Blnazarene3jf-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Blnazarene3jf-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Blnazarene3jf-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-248263\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">FILE: Main altar of Quiapo Church with the image of the Black Nazarene (<a href=\"https:\/\/commons.wikimedia.org\/w\/index.php?curid=18015587\">Photo by Ramon FVelasquez\/Wikimedia Commons, CC BY-SA 3.0<\/a>)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>MANILA<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Amid the continued implementation of nationwide community quarantine, Malaca\u00f1ang on Thursday asked the Catholic Church to remain patient and just continue doing \u201conline\u201d mass to keep the public safe from the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).<\/p>\n<p>In a virtual presser, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque advised the church to follow the latest and temporary guidelines on the conduct of religious gatherings in the country.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cPupwede naman po na mag<\/em>-online\u00a0<em>tayo sa ngayon at obserbahan muna natin \u2018yung<\/em>\u00a010 persons<em>\u00a0dahil ito naman po ay<\/em>\u00a0temporary\u00a0<em>lamang<\/em>\u00a0(We can do online mass for now and observe the 10-person capacity for religious services because it\u2019s just temporary),\u201d Roque said.<\/p>\n<p>In July, the national government has allowed the resumption of religious activities in areas placed under general community quarantine (GCQ) but only at 10 percent of seating capacity.<\/p>\n<p>However, the request to impose a \u201cstricter\u201d GCQ until August 31 was approved on Tuesday, allowing the government to modify its omnibus guidelines on the implementation of community quarantine in the country.<\/p>\n<p>Under the \u201cstricter\u201d GCQ, only 10 persons are allowed to join mass gatherings, including religious activities.<\/p>\n<p>Manila Archdiocese apostolic administrator Bishop Broderick Pabillo on Thursday called as \u201cillogical\u201d the government\u2019s latest move to limit the number of people who can participate in religious services.<\/p>\n<p>Roque, however, said the fresh directive on the conduct of religious gatherings was merely temporary.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cPara lang maiwasan ang pagkalat ng<\/em>\u00a0Covid,\u00a0<em>eh sana po pasensiya lang muna. Hindi naman po ito<\/em>\u00a0forever (To avoid the further spread of Covid-19, we need to be patient.
