Larry Gadon, pictured to be having his face mask &#8220;for show&#8221; with his face shield<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>MANILA<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Malaca\u00f1ang on Monday insisted that face masks are effective in mitigating the risk of spreading coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) despite a lawyer\u2019s opinion that they were only good for small and enclosed places.<\/p>\n<p>Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque chided lawyer Larry Gadon after he was spotted not properly wearing his face mask in public, instead taping the mask on his face shield.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cHindi naman po doktor kasi si<\/em>\u00a0Larry Gadon,\u00a0<em>iyan po ay<\/em>\u00a0pa\u00f1ero\u00a0<em>ko<\/em>\u00a0(Larry Gadon is not a doctor, he\u2019s my pa\u00f1ero). So, let that be his personal opinion,\u201d Roque said in a virtual Palace briefing.<\/p>\n<p>Citing medical experts, Roque said face masks can reduce the risk of acquiring the disease by as much as 85 percent and even up to almost 90 percent with face shields.<\/p>\n<p>He appealed to the public to continue wearing face masks and face shields especially outdoors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cS<em>ana po huwag na tayong maghintay na tayo pa ang maging susunod na biktima. Alam na po natin iyan sa buong mundo na epektibo po ang pagsusuot ng<\/em>\u00a0face mask,<em>\u00a0paghuhugas ng kamay at pagso<\/em>-social distancing (I hope we won\u2019t wait as next victim.
