(<a href=\"https:\/\/commons.wikimedia.org\/w\/index.php?curid=92887958\">Photo by bilalier\/Wikimedia Commons, CC BY 3.0<\/a>)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">The humanitarian needs in Beirut, Lebanon are immense following the recent explosion, which has exacerbated an already dire humanitarian situation in a country that is currently hosting the largest number of refugees per capita and is struggling with environmental and economic uncertainties.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the most urgent needs on the ground include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>emergency medical services, such as transportation to get critical patients to hospitals for urgent care;<\/li>\n<li>shelter, food and water; and,<\/li>\n<li>personal protective equipment as responders provide life-saving care during the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Lebanese Red Cross and the Palestine Red Crescent Lebanon Branch are working to coordinate emergency relief efforts to get help to the people affected as quickly as possible.<\/p>\n<p>Canadians can help by making a financial donation to the\u00a0<em><strong>Lebanon Humanitarian Needs Appeal\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>online at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.redcross.ca\/\">redcross.ca<\/a>\u00a0or by calling\u00a0<strong>1-800-418-1111<\/strong>.
