Manitoba held its 95th\u00a0Provincial Nominee Program<\/a>\u00a0(PNP) draw on July 31.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program<\/a>\u00a0(MPNP) issued a total of 199 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) to immigration candidates.<\/p>\n

LAAs are invitations for immigration candidates to apply for a provincial nomination for permanent residence in Canada. Manitoba issued invitations under the following three immigration streams:<\/p>\n

Out of the 199 LAAs issued in this draw, 15 were given to candidates with profiles in the federal\u00a0Express Entry system<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Manitoba has so far issued LAAs to 2,833 immigration candidates in 2020.<\/p>\n

Manitoba\u2019s EOI system<\/h3>\n

Immigration candidates need to register an Expression of Interest (EOI) with the MPNP to receive an LAA through the Skilled Workers in Manitoba and Skilled Workers Overseas categories.<\/p>\n

Under Manitoba\u2019s system, such candidates are ranked out of 1,000 points for human capital characteristics such as their English or French language skills, education, work experience, Manitoba connections, and other factors.<\/p>\n

In today\u2019s draw, successful candidates needed a score of at least 475 points to obtain an LAA under the Skilled Workers in Manitoba stream. Skilled Workers Overseas candidates needed a minimum score of 764 points.<\/p>\n

About Manitoba immigration streams<\/h3>\n

The Skilled Workers Overseas Category and Skilled Workers in Manitoba categories allow the province to nominate skilled workers who can support Manitoba\u2019s labour market needs.<\/p>\n

People who are overseas need to have an established connection to Manitoba. This can be demonstrated through close family ties or friends in the province, previous experience in Manitoba, or an invitation under one of the MPNP\u2019s Strategic Recruitment Initiatives.<\/p>\n

Candidates do not need to be physically present in Manitoba at the time of the application to be eligible.<\/p>\n

Successful candidates in the Skilled Workers in Manitoba category must meet certain criteria, such as having a full-time permanent job offer from an employer in Manitoba.<\/p>\n

International students that graduated from an educational institution in Manitoba may receive an LAA under the International Education Stream if they have in-demand skills.<\/p>\n

Express Entry Manitoba<\/h3>\n

Express Entry<\/a>\u00a0manages applications for three federal immigration streams:\u00a0Federal Skilled Worker Program<\/a>\u00a0(FSWP),\u00a0Federal Skilled Trades Program<\/a>\u00a0(FSTP), and\u00a0Canadian Experience Class<\/a>\u00a0(CEC).<\/p>\n

Eligible candidates<\/a>\u00a0are ranked on the\u00a0Comprehensive Ranking System<\/a>\u00a0(CRS) which gives them a score based on human capital factors such as age, work experience, education, and language ability.<\/p>\n

The highest-scoring candidates are issued\u00a0Invitations to Apply<\/a>\u00a0(ITAs) through regular federal Express Entry draws.<\/p>\n

If the 15 MPNP candidates, who received an LAA in the July 31 draw, successfully receive the\u00a0provincial nomination<\/a>\u00a0they will be awarded an additional 600 CRS points.<\/p>\n

The extra points effectively guarantee that the candidate will be selected in a subsequent Express Entry draw.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
