(File <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/VPLeniRobredoPH\/photos\/a.2474922109292109\/2474925399291780\/?type=3&amp;theater\">Photo<\/a>: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/VPLeniRobredoPH\/\">VP Leni Robredo\/Facebook<\/a>)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>MANILA<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Even though the government is \u201cfar from being perfect,\u201d it is exhausting all efforts to defeat the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), Malaca\u00f1ang said on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque reassured the public that President Rodrigo Duterte\u2019s administration is doing its best to address the Covid-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>Roque\u2019s statement came a day after Vice President Maria Leonor \u201cLeni\u201d Robredo, in a public address, presented her suggestions to combat and contain the spread of the virus.<\/p>\n<p>In a virtual press conference, he said Robredo\u2019s recommendations would be taken into consideration.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cHayaan ninyo po, kung anuman \u2018yung pula niyo, eh sa susunod po, a<\/em>-address-<em>in natin<\/em>.\u00a0<em>At ang sinabi naman po ng Pangulo<\/em>, we are far from being perfect\u00a0<em>pero ang sinigurado po natin, makatulong po tayo sa ating kapwa<\/em>\u00a0(Don\u2019t worry, whatever your comments, we will address them. The President said we are far from being perfect but we are making sure the people are getting help from us),\u201d Roque said.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday, Robredo presented new proposals on how to fight Covid-19.<\/p>\n<p>Among them are fast-tracking of data gathering and the validation process to control the spread of the disease in the country.<\/p>\n<p>Roque, however, told Robredo that concerns over data collection and validations have already been addressed by the Department of Health.<\/p>\n<p>He also responded to Robredo\u2019s call for a \u201ccommunications campaign\u201d to ensure that Filipinos are getting the correct information.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cDoon naman po sa<\/em>\u00a0information dissemination,<em>\u00a0tatlong beses po ang ating<\/em>\u00a0press briefing.\u00a0<em>Umiikot din po ako sa mga<\/em>\u00a0network\u00a0<em>para magpaliwanang kung wala pong<\/em>\u00a0press briefing (With regard to information dissemination, we are holding press briefings three times a week. I am also entertaining interviews from other networks whenever there is no press briefing),\u201d Roque said.<\/p>\n<p>He further cited the \u201cLaging Handa\u201d program aired on state-run PTV-4 daily to keep the public updated about the government\u2019s Covid-19 response.<\/p>\n<p>Robredo also stressed the need to address the Covid-19 testing backlogs but Roque said the turnaround time for reporting Covid-19 test results is now two to three days.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cHindi po ito himala. Bumilis ang ating<\/em>\u00a0turnaround time\u00a0<em>ng<\/em>\u00a0testing\u00a0<em>dahil sa<\/em>\u00a0increased (laboratory) capacity\u00a0<em>at \u2018yung<\/em>\u00a0steady supply\u00a0<em>ng mga kinakailangan na<\/em>\u00a0test kits\u00a0<em>at saka po sa<\/em>\u00a0automation.\u00a0<em>Ito po ang dahilan<\/em>\u00a0(This is not a miracle. The increased laboratory capacity and steady supply of test kits are the reasons why our turnaround time for a test is faster),\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Robredo also told the Duterte government to push for more organized programs for locally stranded individuals (LSIs).<\/p>\n<p>Roque, however, explained that LSIs had encountered problems because most of them badly wanted to return to their respective homes.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cDahil atat na atat nang makauwi, sinabihan \u2018yung ibang mga kababayan nila na naging dahilan na talagang napakadaming dumating na hindi inaasahan ng mga<\/em>\u00a0organizer (Many wanted to go back home and they told others about the program, surprising organizers about the sudden influx of LSIs),\u201d he said.\u00a0<em>\u201cPero kung tatanungin ninyo \u2018yung mga nakauwi na sa ngayon, eh talaga naman pong pasalamat sila sa ating Pangulo<\/em>\u00a0(But if you ask those who were able to return home, they are truly thankful to the President).\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Robredo also called for the creation of programs and modules to help teachers and parents prepare for the shift to distance learning and homeschooling amid the pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>Roque assured Robredo that the government, through the Department of Education (DepEd), is ready for the school opening in August.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cHindi lamang po online ang<\/em>\u00a0delivery mode\u00a0<em>ng ating<\/em>\u00a0blended learning.\u00a0<em>Karamihan po sa mga magulang ay pinili ang<\/em>\u00a0offline modular system\u00a0<em>ayon sa<\/em>\u00a0enrollment form survey\u00a0<em>na isinagawa po ng<\/em>\u00a0DepEd (Our delivery mode for blended learning is not just online.
