Vancouver, BC \u2013\u00a0<\/strong>As part of the Asian Canadian Writers\u2019 Workshop (ACWW) and\u00a0<\/strong>Ricepaper Magazine<\/em>, LiterASIAN: A Festival of Pacific Rim Asian Canadian Writing will take place from August 15, 2020 to August 30, 2020. LiterASIAN is a spotlight on Asian Canadian literature, history, and culture. The theme of this year\u2019s festival reflects the need to be -\u00ad\u2010\u00a0Quiet No More -\u00ad\u2010<\/em>\u00a0at a time when the easiest thing to do would be to remain silent as a bystander.<\/p>\n

\u201cACWW has helped writers get published, and this festival is a stage for both established and new literary voices to highlight the hybridity of Canadian literary culture,\u201d says Allan Cho, festival director.\u00a0 \u201cThis is not just a literary event, but a<\/p>\n

celebration that brings together writers from a range of genres to share their ideas<\/p>\n

and stories that challenge our perception and realities of writing and publishing.\u201d<\/p>\n

LiterASIAN: A Festival of Pacific Rim Asian Canadian Writing\u00a0<\/strong>will take place virtually. The festival will feature six different events, including panels, workshops, book talks, and a musical performance.<\/p>\n

Featured authors at the festival will be award-\u2010winning Anosh Irani, Fiona Tinwei Lam, Kawika Guillermo, Carlo Javier, Kevin Kapenda, Rachel D\u2019Sa, and Nathalie De Los Santos.\u00a0 Workshops, book club discussions, panels, and musical performances feature Shon Wong, Winnie Cheung, David Wong, Marlene Enns, JF Garrard, Dr. Danielle Wong, and the Literary Circle of Asian Books.<\/p>\n

LiterASIAN\u2019s opening event will also announce the details of this year\u2019s Jim Wong-\u2010Chu Emerging Writers Award.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>The Award originated in 1999 to help authors of Pacific Rim Asian heritage be published with an established publishing house.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s tickets to LiterASIAN are free of charge.\u00a0 Attendees can claim a ticket to the six virtual events on our website.<\/p>\n
