(PCI photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>MANILA<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 There is still no light at the end of the tunnel for the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic in the country as the Department of Health (DOH) reported 2,103 new cases on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>In its daily Covid-19 bulletin, the DOH said the new cases bring the country\u2019s total to 76,444, while active cases \u2014 net of Covid-19 deaths and recoveries \u2014 are now at 50,063.<\/p>\n<p>It said the areas with the highest number of new cases were the National Capital Region (NCR) with 1,272, Cebu province, 291; Laguna, 107; Rizal, 83; and Cavite with 53.<\/p>\n<p>Of the active cases, it said a little over 90 percent were showing mild symptoms, 8.93 percent were asymptomatic, 0.49 percent were experiencing severe symptoms, while those in critical condition were at 0.43 percent.<\/p>\n<p>Recoveries continue to rise with 144 new recoveries reported, bringing the country\u2019s total to 24,502.<\/p>\n<p>Fifteen more deaths were also reported, bringing the total number at 1,879.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, the country remains capable to take care of more cases of Covid-19, with only about half of all beds for Covid-19 cases currently occupied, it said.<\/p>\n<p>In particular, it said beds at intensive care units currently total 1,379 of which 50.1 percent were occupied.<\/p>\n<p>Isolation beds total 10,799 and currently has an occupancy of 50.8 percent, while ward beds total 3,807 with an occupancy of 55.6 percent.<\/p>\n<p>Moreover, it said only 28.8 percent of the country\u2019s ventilators were currently in use, with 71.2 percent, or 1,412 units still available for use.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MANILA\u00a0\u2013 There is still no light at the end of the tunnel for the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic in &hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":44,"featured_media":261408,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[1482,16,95],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-262775","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-breaking","category-news","category-news-ph","mauthors-raymond-carl-dela-cruz","mauthors-philippine-news-agency"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/262775","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/44"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=262775"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/262775\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":262776,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/262775\/revisions\/262776"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/261408"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=262775"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=262775"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=262775"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
