(File photo: @visuals\/Unsplash)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>BUENOS AIRES<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Hundreds more coronavirus disease (Covid-19) fatalities were reported in Brazil and Mexico on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>The death toll in Brazil increased by 1,367 to reach 81,487, according to the Health Ministry.<\/p>\n<p>The number of infections is now nearly 2.16 million \u2013 2,159,654 \u2013 as over 41,000 more people tested positive over the past day.<\/p>\n<p>With over 420,000 cases, Brazil\u2019s most populous city, Sao Paulo, remains the hardest-hit area of the country.<\/p>\n<p>Brazil, the world\u2019s second worst-hit country in the pandemic, is regarded as the epicenter of the outbreak in Latin America.<\/p>\n<p>Over in Mexico, 915 more fatalities raised the death toll to 40,400, the Health Ministry&#8217;s data showed.<\/p>\n<p>The number of cases surged to 356,255, with 6,859 additions over the past 24 hours.<\/p>\n<p>As many as 227,165 patients have recovered in the country so far, according to the ministry.<\/p>\n<p>Across the world, Covid-19 has claimed over 616,500 lives in 188 countries and regions since emerging in China last December.<\/p>\n<p>Nearly 15 million cases have been reported worldwide, with the US, Brazil, India, and Russia currently the worst-hit countries, according to figures compiled by the US\u2019 Johns Hopkins University.<\/p>\n<p>The data shows more than half of all patients worldwide \u2013 over 8.46 million \u2013 have recovered so far.\u00a0<em><strong>(Anadolu)<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BUENOS AIRES\u00a0\u2013 Hundreds more coronavirus disease (Covid-19) fatalities were reported in Brazil and Mexico on Wednesday.
