MANILA<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 The coronavirus disease (Covid-19) tally among Filipinos abroad rose to 8,974 after the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Thursday reported 59 more infections.<\/p>\n

The DFA also registered 10 new recoveries and 15 deaths, jacking up the number to 5,321 and 633, respectively.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, another country in the African region was added to the list, raising the number of countries with Covid-19 cases among Filipinos to 65. The DFA, however, did not identify the said state.<\/p>\n

As of this writing, there are 3,020 active cases logged by the agency — 128 in the Asia Pacific, 498 in Europe, 2,274 in Middle East\/Africa, and 120 in the Americas.<\/p>\n

“With these new developments, the DFA shall continue to keep track of the status of Filipinos abroad and stands ready to earnestly assist and facilitate repatriations, whenever possible,” the DFA said.<\/p>\n

Based on the latest DFA data, over 78,000 Filipinos have been repatriated since the outbreak began.<\/p>\n

Last Sunday, the agency initiated the largest single mass repatriation by the Philippine government, allowing the return of some 410 Filipinos from Beirut, Lebanon via a Qatar Airways flight.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
