Starting July 13, enjoy a full sensory immersion in the Bas-Saint-Laurent with the world premiere of the\u00a0<strong><em>5 Shorts Project<\/em><\/strong>, whose fourth edition will stream online free of charge on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nfb.ca\/\">NFB.ca<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/user\/nfb\">YouTube<\/a>, wherever you are. The NFB has teamed up with\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.paraloeil.com\/\">Paral\u0153il<\/a>\u00a0to produce this year\u2019s series, whose four creative documentaries\u2014<strong><em>Attuned<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0by Steve Verreault and S\u00e9bastien Dave Tremblay,\u00a0<strong><em>Mounds<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0by Nicolas Paquet and Tom Jacques,\u00a0<strong><em>It\u2019ll Be Nice Out Tomorrow<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0by Guillaume L\u00e9vesque and Antoine L\u00e9tourneau-Berger, and\u00a0<strong><em>Night Fair<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0by Cynthia Naggar and Gueze\u2014point up the power of audio and the present moment. Each employs a distinct aesthetic approach as they explore the influence of nature, machinery, the weather and dreams on everyday life.<\/p>\n<p>Launched at the NFB by the French Program\u2019s Documentary Studio, the\u00a0<strong><em>5 Shorts Project<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0visits Quebec\u2019s regions to shine a spotlight on their filmmaking talents. After Quebec City, Saguenay\u2013Lac-Saint-Jean and Abitibi-T\u00e9miscamingue, the program now turns its attention to the Bas-Saint-Laurent, where the NFB worked with the Rimouski-based production centre Paraloeil.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Quick facts<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Starting July 13\u2014a date marking their world premiere\u2014the films from the\u00a0<strong><em>5 Shorts Project<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0in the Bas-Saint-Laurent (Paraloeil\/NFB) can be streamed free of charge from anywhere in the world on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nfb.ca\/\">NFB.ca<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/user\/nfb\">YouTube<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>This is the fourth edition of the\u00a0<strong><em>5 Shorts Project<\/em><\/strong>, an NFB initiative that showcases the talents of filmmakers from Quebec\u2019s regions.<\/li>\n<li>Each of the films (which run between four and six minutes) was created by a Bas-Saint-Laurent duo consisting of one filmmaker and one sound artist. The films are available in binaural audio, which is a 360\u02da spatial soundscape optimized for headphones.<\/li>\n<li>The\u00a0<strong><em>5 Shorts Project<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0in the Bas-Saint-Laurent is produced by Nathalie Cloutier (NFB) and Val\u00e9rie Mongrain (Paraloeil):\n<ul>\n<li><strong><em>Attuned<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0by Steve Verreault and S\u00e9bastien Dave Tremblay<br \/>\nA biologist and naturalist photographer trains his lens on the Matane area in this meditative ode to the benefits of nature.<\/li>\n<li><strong><em>Mounds<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0by Nicolas Paquet and Tom Jacques<br \/>\nA playful documentary on the monumental dance of a peat vacuum harvester, an impressive industrial machine invented in Rivi\u00e8re-du-Loup.<\/li>\n<li><strong><em>It\u2019ll Be Nice Out Tomorrow<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0by Guillaume L\u00e9vesque and Antoine L\u00e9tourneau-Berger<br \/>\nCelebrating the poetry of human speech as it presents Rimouski from a rare angle, this film explores how the weather permeates the collective and universal imagination.<\/li>\n<li><strong><em>Night Fair<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0by Cynthia Naggar and Gueze<br \/>\nA conceptual film that, in a striking marriage of art and science, translates the brain-wave activity of a night\u2019s sleep into sound and image.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Get your headphones on!
