MANILA<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Two foreigners involved in the kidnapping of a Malaysian national were arrested in an entrapment operation in Angeles City, Pampanga, the Philippine National Police-Anti-Kidnapping Group (PNP-AKG) said on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

In a press briefing in Camp Crame, PNP-AKG director, Brig. Gen. Jonnel Estomo identified the suspects as Indonesian national Rano Herman and Malaysian national Ong Way Plak, who were arrested at a parking lot of a mall in Barangay Malabanias around 3 p.m. Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The still unidentified Filipino driver of the suspects remains at large after escaping from the operation.<\/p>\n

The victim, Lee Jun Sheng, was later rescued in a dormitory in Angeles City after an interrogation of the suspects.<\/p>\n

The incident was reported earlier by the Office of the Representative from the Embassy of Malaysia through Consul Abdul Samad Ismail.<\/p>\n

Based on the report, the police were informed that the kidnappers demanded 12,000 Chinese renminbi (more than PHP84,000) additional ransom from the victim’s family.<\/p>\n

Recovered pieces of evidence at the crime scene were one white Toyota Hi-ace van used by the suspects, ID cards and other personal belongings inside the vehicle.<\/p>\n

The suspects are now detained at the AKG headquarters in Camp Crame for filing of appropriate charges in court.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
