(<a href=\"https:\/\/commons.wikimedia.org\/w\/index.php?curid=11643108\">Photo By Mithril Cloud at English Wikipedia, CC BY-SA 3.0<\/a>)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>MANILA \u2013 Two airport police officers detailed at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) have tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), an official said on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) Public Affairs Department&#8217;s officer-in-charge Consuelo Bungag said the two are asymptomatic, and are now undergoing home quarantine monitored by their village officials<\/p>\n<p>Since March, MIAA has already recorded 11 airport workers who tested positive for Covid-19.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The data that we have is only MIAA organic employees, and MIAA service providers,&#8221; Bungag said.<\/p>\n<p>Six out of the eleven are organic or permanent employees. The figure includes the two police officers, who are also the latest cases.<\/p>\n<p>Bungag said the other four employees have been back to work.<\/p>\n<p>Five of the eleven confirmed cases belong to service providers, which include administrative support services and janitorial services.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Out of these five, only two are not yet reporting for work,&#8221; Bungag said.<\/p>\n<p>She, however, did not comment whether the MIAA knows if the two workers are currently confined in a hospital, or if they are undergoing home quarantine.<\/p>\n<p>In a previous interview, MIAA general manager Ed Monreal said they only receive reports about the NAIA workers infected with Covid-19 from their respective local government units.<\/p>\n<p>Unless their respective barangays report the case to them, the MIAA would not know it, he said.<\/p>\n<p>Monreal said workers at NAIA have been provided with face masks and personnel protective equipment (PPE) based on the guidelines set by the Department of Health.<br \/>\nThey have been reminded to always observe physical distancing and proper hygiene, such as the washing of hands and use of sanitizers, he added.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, in a MIAA memorandum circular dated May 21, its medical division was tasked to monitor the health of employees, and attend to those exhibiting symptoms.<\/p>\n<p>The terminal administration was asked to ensure that disinfection activities in their areas are done consistently throughout the day.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; MANILA \u2013 Two airport police officers detailed at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) have tested positive for coronavirus &hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":44,"featured_media":207168,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[16,95],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-259174","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-news","category-news-ph","mauthors-ma-cristina-arayata","mauthors-philippine-news-agency"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/259174","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/44"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=259174"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/259174\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":259175,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/259174\/revisions\/259175"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/207168"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=259174"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=259174"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=259174"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
