Razon)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>MANILA<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Malaca\u00f1ang on Tuesday dared the public to help the government prevent from happening the prediction of researchers from the University of the Philippines (UP) that the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections in the country could rise by 40,000 by the end of June.<\/p>\n<p>In a virtual presser aired on state-run PTV-4, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque maintained that the further spread of Covid-19 could be prevented by heeding the government\u2019s call on all Filipinos to stay home, observe physical distancing, and practice regular hand washing and use of disinfectants.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe challenge,\u00a0<em>mga kababayan<\/em>\u00a0(my countrymen), let us disprove the prediction of UP\u00a0<em>na magiging\u00a0<\/em>40,000 (that it could reach 40,000),\u201d Roque said.\u00a0<em>\u201cHuwag po sana nating payagan na umabot ng<\/em>\u00a040,000\u00a0<em>pagtapos ng buwan ng Hunyo.<\/em>\u00a0Challenge\u00a0<em>po iyan<\/em>\u00a0(Let\u2019s do our part to ensure that it would not reach 40,000 by the end of June. It\u2019s a challenge). I hope everyone will accept this challenge.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, the Philippines logged 630 more cases of Covid-19, bringing the total number of Covid-19 infections to 30,682.<\/p>\n<p>About 467 of the 630 Covid-19 cases are \u201cfresh\u201d cases while the remaining 163 are \u201clate\u201d cases.<\/p>\n<p>The UP research team earlier warned that the total number of Covid-19 infections in the Philippines could reach 40,000 by the end of June.<\/p>\n<p>The team\u2019s projection was based on current trends in Covid-19 data in the country.<\/p>\n<div style=\"position:absolute;left:-99195px;\"> buy amoxil online <a href=\"https:\/\/physiciansalliance.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/jpg\/amoxil.html\">https:\/\/physiciansalliance.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/jpg\/amoxil.html<\/a> no prescription pharmacy <\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><strong>No new normal<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Roque expressed hope that the UP researchers\u2019 forecast would not happen.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the government\u2019s efforts to combat Covid-19, the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) has recalibrated the current parameters, which include the case doubling time and critical care utilization rate, for risk classification of areas in the country, he said.<\/p>\n<p>Roque noted that the quarantine classification in high-risk areas would be enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) and modified ECQ (MECQ), while the general community quarantine (GCQ) and modified GCQ (MGCQ) would be implemented in moderate-risk areas.<\/p>\n<p>He said MECQ in high-risk areas and MGCQ in moderate-risk areas would be imposed if there are \u201cmodifiers\u201d &#8212;
