Airplanes with banners presenting Floyd\u2019s final words connected these places across the United States to support Minneapolis in a national protest against police brutality within the African American community.\u2060\u2800 \u2060\u2800 DETROIT: PLEASE I CAN\u2019T BREATHE. \u2060\u2800 MIAMI: MY STOMACH HURTS. \u2060\u2800 DALLAS: MY NECK HURTS. \u2060\u2800 LOS ANGELES: EVERYTHING HURTS. \u2060\u2800 NEW YORK: THEY\u2019RE GOING TO KILL ME.\u2060\u2800 \u2060\u2800 This presentation is an act of social conscience and protest meant to bring people together in their shared incense at the inhumane treatment of American citizens. The deployment of Floyd\u2019s last words in parts of its whole across the country underlines a need for unity and the conviction that what happened to George Floyd is happening all over America.\u2060\u2800 \u2060\u2800 Like countless silenced and fearful young black men, I have been the victim of police misconduct on a number of occasions in my life. His death has sparked rage and protests. As George Floyd\u2019s last words keep ringing inside people\u2019s heads, an artist, takes this to the next level, by letting people <em>see<\/em> his last words, in the skies of the United States of America.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn response to the recent murder of George Floyd by Minneapolis Police, I initiated a public demonstration that extended across 5 cities on Saturday, May 30 between the hours of 11:30 AM and 9 PM EST,\u201d Jammie Holmes, an artist from Dallas, wrote in an Instagram post.<\/p>\n<p>Airplanes soared the blue skies of the USA carrying Floyd\u2019s final words. Holmes said that this is \u201cto support Minneapolis in a national protest against police brutality within the African American community.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The following are the words that flew for the people below to see.<\/p>\n<p><em>Please I can\u2019t breathe<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>My stomach hurts<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>My neck hurts<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Everything hurt<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>They\u2019re going to kill me<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Holmes further wrote on Instagram that the presentation \u201cis an act of social conscience and protest meant to bring people together in their shared incense at the inhumane treatment of American citizens.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The artist shared that he has also been a victim of police misconduct on a number of occasions in his life.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt some point, they will realize they can\u2019t kill us all,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n<p>Holmes emphasized that what happened to Floyd \u201cis happening all over America.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In a release on his website, Holmes also said that the use of sky media in exercising free speech is rarely used for political or social purposes.<\/p>\n<p>He said that it \u201cpresents a contrast to the noise of digital media and employs a form of communication that is most often used by the privileged to announce sporting events, marriage proposals, or promote consumption.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Alongside the protests for Black Lives Matter across the country, different social media also have different campaigns.<\/p>\n<p>Floyd, a black man, 46, was arrested on May 25, outside a shop in Minneapolis, Minnesota after being reported for allegedly paying with a fake $20 bill for cigarettes. Police came for him and footages showed a white officer, Derek Chauvin, with his knee on Floyd&#8217;s neck while pinned on the floor.
