MANILA<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 The number of persons infected with the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) in the country has reached 13,221, with 279 new reported cases.<\/p>\n

The Department of Health (DOH), in its case bulletin on Wednesday, reported that there are 89 new recoveries and five new deaths.<\/p>\n

The total number of recovered patients nationwide is now 2,932 while the death toll has climbed to 842.<\/p>\n

Out of the 279 new cases, the DOH said 150 cases or 54 percent came from the National Capital Region; 14 cases or 5 percent from Region 7 (Central Visayas), and the remaining 115 cases or 54 percent from other regions.<\/p>\n

The total number of active cases nationwide is 9,447.<\/p>\n

As of May 19, the DOH has 13,356 total bed capacity dedicated to patients with Covid-19.<\/p>\n

About 35.40 percent of the 2,591 ward beds are occupied; 35.70 percent of 9,479 isolation beds are occupied, and 33.70 percent of 1,286 intensive care unit beds are occupied.<\/p>\n

There are 1,965 total ventilators for Covid-19 patients and about 19.40 percent of them are in use.<\/p>\n

In Local Isolation and General Treatment Areas for Covid-19 cases (Ligtas Covid) facilities across the country, there are 47,751 beds dedicated to Covid-19 patients.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, there are 1,348 beds dedicated to Covid-19 patients in mega Ligtas Covid facilities.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
