(File Photo by Martin Sanchez\/Unsplash)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>MANILA<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 The total number of confirmed cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) in the country has reached 11,618, with 268 more persons contracting the disease.<\/p>\n<p>In its case bulletin Wednesday, the Department of Health (DOH) also reported 145 new recoveries and 21 new deaths.<\/p>\n<p>The total number of recovered cases nationwide is now 2,251 while the death toll has climbed to 772.<\/p>\n<p>Out of the 268 new cases, the DOH said 165 cases or 61 percent came from the National Capital Region; 58 cases or 22 percent from Region 7 (Central Visayas), and the remaining 45 cases or 17 percent from other regions.<\/p>\n<p>As of May 12, the DOH has 13,553 total bed capacity dedicated to patients with Covid-19.<\/p>\n<p>About 36.1 percent of the 2,750 ward beds are occupied; 40.20 percent of 9,523 isolation beds are occupied, and 38.90 percent of 1,280 intensive care unit beds are occupied.<\/p>\n<p>The DOH also has 1,897 total ventilators for Covid-19 patients and about 22.50 percent of them are in use.<\/p>\n<p>In Local Isolation and General Treatment Areas for Covid-19 cases (Ligtas Covid) facilities, there are 43,644 beds dedicated to Covid-19 patients.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, there are 1,348 beds dedicated to Covid-19 patients in mega Ligtas Covid facilities.<\/p>\n<p>Ligtas Covid facilities are community-managed centers for the quarantine and isolation of suspected Covid-19 cases while the mega Ligtas Covid facilities are managed by the national government for the same purpose.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MANILA\u00a0\u2013 The total number of confirmed cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) in the country has reached 11,618, with &hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":33,"featured_media":252365,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[1145,16,95],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-254687","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-headline","category-news","category-news-ph","mauthors-ma-teresa-montemayor","mauthors-philippine-news-agency"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/254687","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/33"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=254687"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/254687\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":254689,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/254687\/revisions\/254689"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/252365"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=254687"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=254687"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=254687"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
