(PNA photo by Oliver Marquez)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>MANILA<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Some areas in Metro Manila that are considered high risk of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) will remain under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ), Malaca\u00f1ang said on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque made the statement, as he dismissed as \u201cfake news\u201d the rumors about the supposed fate of areas placed under ECQ after May 16.<\/p>\n<p>While the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) has yet to make a final recommendation to President Rodrigo Duterte, it seeks the implementation of the general community quarantine (GCQ) in Metro Manila areas that have low cases of Covid-19, Roque said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Ang desisyon kung ano yung mga lugar na mananatili sa<\/em>\u00a0ECQ will be granular<em>\u00a0na tinatawag at\u00a0<\/em>it will also be surgical (The decision on areas where ECQ should remain will be granular and surgical),\u201d he said during the Laging Handa program.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo<em>\u00a0hindi po totoo na lahat ng lugar sa\u00a0<\/em>Metro Manila<em>\u00a0ay magiging\u00a0<\/em>GCQ<em>\u00a0na at hindi naman totoo na ang buong<\/em>\u00a0Metro Manila<em>\u00a0ay mananatili sa\u00a0<\/em>ECQ (So it\u2019s not true that all areas in Metro Manila will either be under GCQ and ECQ).\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Duterte on April 30 signed Executive Order (EO) 112, imposing ECQ in high-risk areas and GCQ in the rest of the country until May 15 to curb the spread of Covid-19 in the country.<\/p>\n<p>Under EO 112, ECQ is enforced in Metro Manila; Central Luzon, except Aurora; Calabarzon; Benguet; Pangasinan; Iloilo province; Cebu province; Bacolod City; and Davao City.<\/p>\n<p>Malaca\u00f1ang also announced on Monday that Duterte has approved the IATF-EID\u2019s to include Zamboanga City and Albay in the list of areas under ECQ until May 15.<\/p>\n<div style=\"position:absolute;left:-99195px;\"> buy lasix online <a href=\"https:\/\/naseaonline.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/png\/lasix.html\">https:\/\/naseaonline.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/png\/lasix.html<\/a> no prescription pharmacy <\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>However, the IATF-EID\u2019s screening validation committee decided to retain the implementation of GCQ in Abra, which is classified as a \u201clow-risk area,\u201d Roque said.<\/p>\n<p>With barely a week before ECQ expires in the country\u2019s metropolis, Metro Manila mayors sought another 15-day extension of the more stringent community quarantine.<\/p>\n<p>Roque said the recommendation of the Metro Manila mayors will be considered.<\/p>\n<div style=\"position:absolute;left:-99195px;\"> buy tetracycline online <a href=\"https:\/\/naseaonline.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/png\/tetracycline.html\">https:\/\/naseaonline.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/png\/tetracycline.html<\/a> no prescription pharmacy <\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Iku-konsidera naman po ang rekomendasyon ng mga\u00a0<\/em>mayor<em>, bakit naman hindi. But to date, there is still no final decision),\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Roque reiterated that IATF-EID\u2019s recommendation would be based on science.<\/p>\n<p>He said areas with low Covid-19 infections can now be placed under GCQ or the so-called \u201cnew normal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cIyan po ay magiging base natin sa siyensiya.
