Peque Gallaga, one of the most renowned directors in the industry of Philippine cinema died on Thursday, May 7, at the age of 76.<\/p>\n
According to his wife Madie, the filmmaker died from cardiopulmonary arrest at 11:47 a.m. at the Riverside Medical Center in Bacolod City. He was hospitalized on May 5, as confirmed by the family’s statement “due to complications arising from past health conditions” posted online by fellow director Lore Reyes.<\/p>\n
He was best known for the classic masterpiece, \u201cOro, Plata, Mata\u201d in 1982, which has received numerous awards.<\/p>\n
His other works include \u201cScorpio Nights\u201d in 1985, \u201cMagic Temple\u201d in 1986, and \u201cTiyanak\u201d in 1988.<\/p>\n
Several stars remembered him and joined the mourning by posting some photos and sharing some of their stories in working with him.<\/p>\n
Anne Curtis Smith-Heusaff, who played Princess Dahlia in \u201cMagic Kingdom,\u201d named her first daughter with husband Erwann Heusaff, Dahlia, shared her regret. \u201cIt breaks my heart knowing that he won\u2019t get to meet my own little Dahlia,\u201d Anne wrote.<\/p>\n

I will forever be grateful to him and Direk Lore for choosing me to be their Princess Dahlia in Magic Kingdom.. it breaks my heart knowing that he won\u2019t get to meet my own little Dahlia.
