(Pixabay photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>MANILA<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 A total of 1,645 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Qatar had been displaced due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic, the Philippine Embassy in Doha disclosed on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;Ang epekto ay may mga<\/em>\u00a0job displacement\u00a0<em>ang<\/em>\u00a0OFWs\u00a0<em>sa<\/em>\u00a0Qatar (The effect of Covid-19 is there had been job displacement of OFWs in Qatar). Based on the recent data ng POLO (of the Philippine Overseas Labor Office), verified is 1,645 job displacement of land-based OFWs in Qatar,&#8221; Ambassador Alan Timbayan said during the Laging Handa briefing.<\/p>\n<p>At least 4,055 Filipino workers have also been forced to go on leave amid the measures implemented to arrest the spread of Covid-19, he added.<\/p>\n<p>Timbayan said the embassy continues to provide services and assistance to Filipinos in the Gulf state.<\/p>\n<p>With the ongoing health crisis, he advised all members of the Filipino community to remain calm and vigilant.<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;Patuloy po nating sundan ang mga patakaran na pinapatupad ng<\/em>\u00a0government of Qatar\u00a0<em>tungkol sa paglaban ng<\/em>\u00a0Covid-19 (Let us continue to monitor the measures implemented by the government of Qatar in battling Covid-19).
