MANILA<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 The Department of Health (DOH) on Thursday reported 276 new persons infected with coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 8,488.<\/p>\n

In a Covid-19 virtual presser, DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire also reported 20 new recoveries and 10 new deaths.<\/p>\n

The total number of recovered cases nationwide is now 1,043 while the death toll has climbed to 568.<\/p>\n

“Ayon sa pinakahuling datos, mayroon na po tayong<\/em>\u00a01,619 healthcare workers\u00a0na naging positibo sa<\/em>\u00a0(Based on the latest data, we have so far 1,619 healthcare workers who tested positive for) Covid-19,” Vergeire said.<\/p>\n

Of the total number, 557 are nurses, 604 are physicians or doctors, 99 are nursing assistants, 63 are medical technologists, 31 are radiologic technologists, 17 are respiratory therapists, 18 are midwives, 13 pharmacists and 217 are other healthcare workers like dentists, barangay healthcare workers, and administrative aides.<\/p>\n

“Mula dito<\/em>, 33\u00a0ang kumpirmadong pumanaw sa<\/em>\u00a0Covid-19\u00a0kabilang dito ang<\/em>\u00a024\u00a0na<\/em>\u00a0physicians\u00a0at pitong<\/em>\u00a0nurse (From this, 33 were confirmed to have died from Covid-19, including 24 physicians and seven nurses.)” Vergeire said.<\/p>\n

She added about 250 healthcare workers have recovered.<\/p>\n

As of Wednesday, the DOH has provided a total bed capacity of 11,604 for Covid-19 patients.<\/p>\n

Vergeire said the Covid-19 testing laboratories nationwide have recorded 92,822 total unique individual tests.<\/p>\n
