(Pexels photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>MANILA<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 The Department of Health (DOH) on Saturday reported 102 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases, bringing the total to 7,294.<\/p>\n<p>The agency also reported 30 new recoveries and 17 new deaths. As of April 25, there are 792 recoveries and 494 Covid-related deaths.<\/p>\n<p>DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said at least 1,101 healthcare workers have been diagnosed with the disease&#8211; 434 doctors, 400 nurses, 55 nursing assistants, 32 medical technologists, and 21 radiologic technologists.<\/p>\n<p>Of this number, 26 have died including 20 physicians and six nurses.<\/p>\n<p>In a virtual briefing, Vergeire sent the country&#8217;s condolences to the bereaved families of those who passed away due to the respiratory disease.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, the Philippines continues to strengthen its testing capacity. There are a total of 18 laboratories in the country licensed to test people for Covid-19.<\/p>\n<p>As of this writing, Vergeire said 72,794 persons have been tested.<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday, the government also received 700 units of Q-Sens 2019-nCoV Detection Kits from the South Korean government.<\/p>\n<p>The kits, which can yield a total of 35,000 tests, are valued at USD500,000 or approximately PHP25.38 million.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<em>Patuloy po itong makakadagdag sa ating kasalukuyang<\/em>\u00a0testing capacity.\u00a0<em>Ito po&#8217;y nakatakdang i<\/em>-deliver\u00a0<em>sa<\/em>\u00a0RITM (Research Institute for Tropical Medicine)\u00a0<em>at mga<\/em>\u00a0sub-national laboratories<em>\u00a0sa susunod na araw<\/em>\u00a0(This would augment our current testing capacity.
