Alfiler)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>MANILA<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) has approved the proposed free hotel accommodations for medical front-liners treating coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases in the country, Malaca\u00f1ang said Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said the IATF-EID directed the Department of Tourism (DOT) to help health workers find a hotel that will serve as their temporary shelter amid the country\u2019s fight against Covid-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cInaatasan ng<\/em>\u00a0inter-agency\u00a0<em>ang<\/em>\u00a0Department of Tourism\u00a0<em>na mag-bigay po ng<\/em>\u00a0hotel rooms\u00a0<em>kung saan pwedeng tumira ang ating<\/em>\u00a0health workers,\u00a0<em>ang ating<\/em>\u00a0front-liners (The inter-agency is directing the Department of Tourism to provide hotel rooms where our health workers, our front-liners can stay),\u201d Roque said in a virtual presser.<\/p>\n<p>DOT Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat was tasked to make an inventory of available hotel rooms for health workers, Roque said.<\/p>\n<p>The latest move came since mass public transportation has been suspended in the entire Luzon following the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).<\/p>\n<p>In March, the IATF-EID ordered the Department of Transportation to provide free shuttle services to health workers during the ECQ period.<\/p>\n<p>Roque said medical workers deserve to get free temporary housing.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cNapakaliit na bagay naman po ito na ibibigay natin sa ating mga<\/em>\u00a0front-liner\u00a0<em>dahil sa kanilang sakripisyo<\/em>\u00a0(Providing front-liners a hotel accommodation is just a small thing compared to their sacrifices),\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Roque said the IATF-EID also tasked the National Task Force\u2019s Task Group for Resource Management and Logistics to compile the logistical requirements for health and emergency front-liners.<\/p>\n<p>The Department of Health reported Wednesday that some 1,062 health workers in the country have contracted Covid-19.<\/p>\n<p>Roque said the government would ensure the strict enforcement of infectious operational protocols to protect healthcare workers in the country.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cTalagang nababahala po ang gobyerno dahil kung tuluyang magkakasakit ang mga<\/em>\u00a0front-liner\u00a0<em>natin, sino po ang mag-aalaga sa atin<\/em>\u00a0(The government is really alarmed because if all of our front-liners get infected with Covid-19, who would take care of us)?\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Roque said the government would ramp up the production of personal protective equipment to make sure that medical front-liners are safe from the novel coronavirus.<\/p>\n<p>He added that the government would hire more healthcare personnel to reduce the risk of medical front-liners of getting Covid-19.<\/p>\n<p>As of Wednesday, the Philippines has 6,710 confirmed Covid-19 infections, with 446 fatalities and 693 deaths.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MANILA\u00a0\u2013 The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) has approved the proposed free hotel accommodations &hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":44,"featured_media":251559,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[16,95],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-252978","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-news","category-news-ph","mauthors-ruth-abbey-gita-carlos","mauthors-philippine-news-agency"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/252978","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/44"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=252978"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/252978\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":252979,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/252978\/revisions\/252979"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/251559"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=252978"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=252978"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=252978"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
