Philippines\/Facebook<\/a>)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>MANILA<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 After more than a month under an enhanced community quarantine in Luzon due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said a partial lifting of the public transport ban is being eyed for personnel of essential services.<\/p>\n<p>In a Laging Handa network briefing on Wednesday, DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade said the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) is considering the limited operation of public utility buses (PUB) and trains in certain areas, based on studies presented by National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Secretary Karl Chua on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Kung papayagan ho ng IATF, magpa-partial operability tayo pero yung<\/em>\u00a0(If the IATF-EID will allow it, we will have partial operability but the) operational capacity will be abbreviated at mababawasan (and lessened),\u201d Tugade said.<\/p>\n<p>He said aside from certain PUBs, the IATF-EID is eyeing the resumption of limited operation of the Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1), LRT-2, Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3), and the Philippine National Railways (PNR).<\/p>\n<p>On the resumption of public transportation in areas with no documented cases of Covid-19 \u2014 including maritime and land transportation \u2014 he said the possibility is being studied and if justified, the DOTr will submit a recommendation to the IATF-EID.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Kapag inapprove ng IATF&#8211;maintaining yung mga requirements gaya ng social distancing, \u2018no mask, no ride,\u2019 handwashing, at thermal scanning<\/em>\u00a0(If approved by the IATF-EID, we will have to maintain social distancing, \u2018no mask, no ride,\u2019 handwashing, and thermal scanning),\u201d Tugade said.<\/p>\n<p>He added that basic social distancing principles will have to be enforced not only inside public utility vehicles but also while passengers are waiting in line.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rail projects<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, he said the construction of 13 rail projects in the country has resumed this week after the approval of the IATF-EID.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Napaka-ideal ho na maumpisahan ngayon ito pagka&#8217;t hindi ginagamit at hindi operational<\/em>\u00a0(Resumption of works is ideal at this time as the rail services are not under operation),\u201d Tugade said.<\/p>\n<p>The resumption of works includes the fast-tracking of projects and comprise of two phases \u2014 rail installation and relocation of utilities.<\/p>\n<p>To ensure the safety of workers during the pandemic, he said strict protocols set by the IATF-EID are followed at all ongoing projects such as the rationalization of workers, on-site accommodation for workers, strict social distancing, dedicated shuttle services, and controlled work hours.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MANILA\u00a0\u2013 After more than a month under an enhanced community quarantine in Luzon due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) &hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":44,"featured_media":241148,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[16,95],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-252955","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-news","category-news-ph","mauthors-raymond-carl-dela-cruz","mauthors-philippine-news-agency"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/252955","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/44"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=252955"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/252955\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":252956,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/252955\/revisions\/252956"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/241148"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=252955"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=252955"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=252955"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
