{"id":252781,"date":"2020-04-21T07:24:29","date_gmt":"2020-04-21T11:24:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/?p=252781"},"modified":"2020-04-21T07:24:29","modified_gmt":"2020-04-21T11:24:29","slug":"manila-district-placed-under-48-hour-hard-lockdown","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/2020\/04\/21\/manila-district-placed-under-48-hour-hard-lockdown\/","title":{"rendered":"Manila district placed under 48-hour \u2018hard lockdown\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fiskomorenodomagoso%2Fposts%2F2849844438418314&amp;width=500\" width=\"500\" height=\"738\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><br \/>\n<strong>MANILA<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Sampaloc district in Manila will be placed under 48-hour \u201chard lockdown\u201d after the Manila Health Department observed a growing cases of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) in the area, Mayor Francisco \u2018Isko\u2019 Domagoso said on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Domagoso signed an executive order shutting down Sampaloc district from 8 p.m. on Thursday (April 23) until 8 p.m. on Saturday (April 25).<\/p>\n<p>During the hard lockdown period, Domagoso said all Sampaloc residents shall be strictly confined to their residences and are prohibited from going out of their homes.<\/p>\n<p>He added that the city government will put the district under surveillance, rapid risk assessment, and testing operations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHealth authorities will be conducting disease surveillance, testing and rapid risk assessment as the city\u2019s response measures to the imminent danger posed by Covid-19,\u201d he said in announcement aired live on Facebook on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Exempted from hard lockdown are healthcare workers; police and military personnel; government employees; service workers of pharmacies, drug stores and death care services; barangay officials; and accredited media practitioners.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll other commercial, industrial, retail, institutional and other activities not mentioned in above exemptions in the said district shall be suspended within the specified period of the shutdown,\u201d the executive order read.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStation commanders of police stations in the said district are hereby directed to employ and deploy officers and personnel in strategic locations and areas in the district necessary for the effective implementation of the shutdown,\u201d it added.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview over radio station DZBB, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) spokesperson Brig. Gen.
