KING RODRIGUEZ\/PRESIDENTIAL PHOTO<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>MANILA<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 President Rodrigo Duterte has ordered the authorities to go after those who are selling fake identification cards (IDs) that will purportedly serve as a quarantine pass amid the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine (ECQ), Malaca\u00f1ang said Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said Duterte is directing the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to ensure the immediate arrest of those behind the sale of fake IDs bearing the President\u2019s signature.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cInaatasan po ng Pangulo ang<\/em>\u00a0PNP\u00a0<em>at ang<\/em>\u00a0NBI\u00a0<em>na imbestigahan itong mga anomalyang ito. Ito po ay krimen<\/em>\u00a0(The President is ordering the PNP and NBI to investigate these anomalies. This is a crime),\u201d Roque said in a virtual presser aired on state-run PTV-4.<\/p>\n<p>Roque\u2019s statement came following reports that people are enticed to buy fake IDs with Duterte\u2019s signature and Malaca\u00f1an\u2019s logo for them to pass through quarantine checkpoints.<\/p>\n<p>The fake IDs were purportedly being sold at between PHP1,000 and PHP3,000.<\/p>\n<p>Roque said culprits would face criminal charges, which include falsification of documents and estafa.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cIto po ay<\/em>\u00a0falsification of public documents\u00a0<em>at ito po ay<\/em>\u00a0estafa\u00a0<em>dahil sila ay nagbebenta<\/em>. So\u00a0<em>habulin po ang mga criminal na iyan at sila ay ikulong<\/em>\u00a0(Criminal offenses include falsification of documents and estafa because they are selling fake IDs. We should run after those criminals and detain them),\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>On April 18, Presidential Anti-Corruption Commissioner Greco Belgica warned the public against those people who are taking advantage of the situation amid the ECQ in Luzon.<\/p>\n<p>Belgica issued the stern warning after the PACC had received complaint that a person pretending to be a member of the Presidential Task Force on Moral Recovery is selling fake IDs that can be used as \u201cCovid-19 quarantine pass or working permit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Belgica said the suspect was identified as Marvin Cuna, a resident of Bi\u00f1an, Laguna.<\/p>\n<p>Cuna was arrested in an entrapment operation on April 16, Belgica said.<\/p>\n<p>A motorist, identified as Roy del Rosario, was also apprehended on Monday on Edsa northbound lane near Camp Aguinaldo for using a falsified document purportedly issued by the Department of the Interior and Local Government to be able to pass through quarantine checkpoints.<\/p>\n<p>The entire Luzon island was placed under ECQ until April 30 to stop the further transmission of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) in the country.<\/p>\n<p>Despite this, many continue to defy the quarantine protocols to contain the spread of Covid-19.<\/p>\n<p>In a separate virtual press briefing, Cabinet Secretary Karlo Norgales cited report from the PNP that to date, there have already been 130,177 ECQ violators.<\/p>\n<p>Some 30,366 of the ECQ violators have been arrested, Nograles said.<\/p>\n<p>Nograles also noted the arrest of around 2,740 drivers of private vehicles who have violated social distancing rules, based on the report of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese are not trivial violations,\u201d he said. \u201cEvery time an individual violates ECQ guidelines, he or she chooses to become a health threat to those who abide by it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Under Republic Act 11469 or the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act, quarantine violators will face one-year imprisonment or a fine ranging from PHP10,000 to PHP1 million, or both.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MANILA\u00a0\u2013 President Rodrigo Duterte has ordered the authorities to go after those who are selling fake identification cards (IDs) that &hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":33,"featured_media":250560,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[1145,16,95],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-252776","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-headline","category-news","category-news-ph","mauthors-ruth-abbey-gita-carlos","mauthors-philippine-news-agency"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/252776","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/33"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=252776"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/252776\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":252777,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/252776\/revisions\/252777"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/250560"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=252776"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=252776"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=252776"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
