{"id":252687,"date":"2020-04-20T06:45:34","date_gmt":"2020-04-20T10:45:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/?p=252687"},"modified":"2020-04-20T06:45:34","modified_gmt":"2020-04-20T10:45:34","slug":"parts-of-marikina-wet-market-closed-for-massive-decontamination","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/2020\/04\/20\/parts-of-marikina-wet-market-closed-for-massive-decontamination\/","title":{"rendered":"Parts of Marikina wet market closed for massive decontamination"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FMarikinaPIO%2Fposts%2F3583821108298832&amp;width=500\" width=\"500\" height=\"794\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><br \/>\n<strong>MANILA<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Marikina City Mayor Marcelino Teodoro on Monday immediately ordered the closure of several portions of the city&#8217;s public market for massive disinfection following the death of a 72-year-old vendor who succumbed to a respiratory illness suspected to be coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) case.<\/p>\n<p>The sections of the market closed are the Wet Section\u2014fish, poultry, meat; Grocery; Carinderia Section; Fruits and Vegetables Section; and Coconut\/Niyugan Section.<\/p>\n<p>Teodoro said he ordered the closure and massive disinfection of the sections of the market for the safety of the public and as a precautionary measure against the dreaded disease.<\/p>\n<p>He also directed the City Epidemiological Surveillance Unit (CESU) to quickly conduct contact tracing of those people the vendor might have come in contact with the vendor.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are conducting multi-point contact tracing here in Marikina. Three parallel tracing to cross reference the results. This is being done to validate,\u201d he said in a statement sent to reporters.<\/p>\n<p>He also ordered the Marikina City Public Market personnel to disinfect the whole public market until Tuesday (April 21). On Wednesday, the market will be operational again after the thorough disinfection.<\/p>\n<p>He said that the 72-year-old vendor who showed Covid-19-like symptoms never got the chance to get tested.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Namatay siya tatlong araw matapos kakitaan ng sintomas. Hindi na<\/em>-test<em>\u00a0\u2018yung namatay kaya hindi pa tukoy kung<\/em>\u00a0Covid-19\u00a0<em>ang kinamatay niya. Ito ang problema kung hindi tayo nakakapag<\/em>-testing (He died three days after manifesting symptoms. He was not tested so it is unknown yet whether he succumbed to Covid-19. This is the problem if we do not hold testing),\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Teodoro said they are currently conducting aggressive contact tracing in the places where the vendor worked and resided&#8212;Barangay Sta. Elena, Barangay San Roque, and Barangay Sto.
