(Photo courtesy Marikina PIO).<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>MANILA<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Marikina City Mayor Marcelino \u201cMarcy\u201d Teodoro on Monday inspected a two-story building it will recommended to the Department of Health (DOH) as the city\u2019s new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) testing center.<\/p>\n<p>He said the newly-constructed 160-square meter building is located in a not populated but accessible area along Bayan-Bayanan Avenue in Barangay Concepcion Uno.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is a freestanding structure.\u00a0<em>Hindi<\/em>\u00a0populated\u00a0<em>&#8216;yung<\/em>\u00a0(not populated) area, accessible. It is located along a main avenue in Marikina. In terms of location,\u00a0<em>mukha ito ang<\/em>\u00a0suitable\u00a0<em>na sinasabi nila<\/em>\u00a0(I think it is suitable as they (DOH) said),\u201d he said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>Teodoro assured his constituents the risk assessment template and protocol of biohazard measures are strictly followed by the local government.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cMayroon tayong<\/em>\u00a0(We followed) risk assessment template na sinunod of highest standard and strict adherence to the protocol of biohazard measures ang pinapa-implement natin dito (implemented here),\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cHindi lang doon sa<\/em>\u00a0in terms of trained personnel\u00a0<em>na mayroon tayo, hindi lang &#8216;yung<\/em>\u00a0work process\u00a0<em>kundi pati ang<\/em>\u00a0layout\u00a0<em>ng<\/em>\u00a0laboratory\u00a0<em>ay sumusunod doon sa<\/em>\u00a0biohazard safety (Not only in terms of trained personnel that we have, not only the work process but the layout of the laboratory are based on biohazard safety),\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>He said a dedicated ambulance for Marikina Covid-19 testing center will be on standby at the facility.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, the DOH disapproved the Marikina Covid-19 Testing Center located at the Marikina City Health Office (CHO), saying the local government should build a separate building for the facility to be operational.<\/p>\n<p>The DOH recommended that the Covid-19 testing facility should be placed outside the CHO so that cross-infection will be minimized, and less foot traffic will be observed for the protection of staff and Marikina residents.<\/p>\n<p>Teodoro said the new testing center has no other offices and clinics.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cAng narito lang ay ang<\/em>\u00a0laboratory.\u00a0<em>Kaya ang tao lang makikita rito at ang mga<\/em>\u00a0pathologists, medical technologists,<em>\u00a0at<\/em>\u00a0lab technicians (What we have here is the laboratory only.
