(File <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/SenatorNancyBinay\/photos\/a.733737050010649\/2054345624616445\/?type=3&amp;amp;theater\">Photo:<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/SenatorNancyBinay\/\">Nancy Binay\/Facebook<\/a>)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>MANILA<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Senator Nancy Binay on Monday appealed to members of the Tourism Congress of the Philippines (TCP) to donate pillows and beddings and other essentials to designated Covid-19 quarantine centers amid halted production of bedding essentials due to the imposition of the enhanced community quarantine throughout Luzon.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe hospitals and quarantine centers are already too overwhelmed and preoccupied. Broadly speaking, the TCP can be the backline in this fight against Covid-19 by giving out soaps, donating pillows and linens, and other accessories to our quarantine centers,\u201d Binay said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>The chairperson of the Senate Committee on Tourism said that due to the halted production of bedding essentials, TCP is now in a unique position to help and complement hospitals and local quarantine centers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey have the backbone in providing viable solutions to quarantine challenges at this very critical time. They are definitely well-equipped to deal with the issue of hygiene. Even donating soap can already spell hope,&#8221; Binay said.<\/p>\n<p>The lawmaker said she is optimistic that many establishments would answer the call for help, even if the tourism industry is also taking a massive hit due to the global pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis would require sacrifice on the part of the private sector, pero naniniwala akong marami sa mga partners natin sa Tourism Congress\u00a0<em>ay<\/em>\u00a0willing\u00a0<em>naman tumulong at gawin ang makakaya para malagpasan natin ang krisis na ito<\/em>\u00a0(but I believe that many of our partners in the TCP are willing to help and do everything possible for us to survive this crisis),\u201d Binay.<\/p>\n<p>The TCP is the government&#8217;s private sector counterpart created under the Tourism Act of 2009 (RA 9593).
