{"id":25050,"date":"2014-09-08T18:34:02","date_gmt":"2014-09-08T10:34:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/?p=25050"},"modified":"2014-09-09T15:01:19","modified_gmt":"2014-09-09T07:01:19","slug":"cross-border-collaboration-to-stop-dengue-spread-who","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/2014\/09\/08\/cross-border-collaboration-to-stop-dengue-spread-who\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Cross-border collaboration\u2019 to stop Dengue spread &#8212; WHO"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_14967\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-14967\" style=\"width: 216px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/denguw.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-14967\" src=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/denguw.jpg\" alt=\"Wikipedia Photo\" width=\"216\" height=\"146\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-14967\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Wikipedia Photo<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>MANILA \u2013 The World Health Organization is looking at pushing for a \u201ccross-border\u201d collaboration to prevent the mosquito-borne disease from spreading.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThrough such cross-border collaboration and sharing of dengue information, timely sensing of the dengue situation can improve preparedness within each country in the event of an outbreak,\u201d the WHO said.<\/p>\n<p>Affecting more than 100 countries worldwide, the WHO is considering to build regional capacity through collaboration among countries in order to minimize, if not totally eliminate, the effects of dengue outbreak.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNot only is the number of cases increasing as the disease spreads to new areas, but frequent explosive outbreaks are occurring,\u201d the WHO said.<\/p>\n<p>An estimated 50-100 million dengue infections was reported by the organization to have been recurring worldwide every year.<\/p>\n<p>The figure also has been dramatically increasing with only nine articles affected by sever dengue epidemics in 1970 to more than 100 countries reported recently.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, a total of 428,635 cases and 964 dengue deaths were reported by the member states of the Western Pacific region.<\/p>\n<p>In the Philippines, dengue cases reach over 204,906 cases and 660 deaths last year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDengue hinders progress, which prevents our people from enjoying quality life.
