(Photo courtesy of OPPAP via PIA)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><strong>MANILA<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 Presidential Peace Adviser Carlito Galvez Jr. on Thursday acknowledged the significant contributions of high-achieving Filipino women as the country celebrates National Women\u2019s Month.<\/p>\n<p>In a press statement, Galvez said Filipino women\u2019s excellence and perseverance have helped the government achieved long-lasting peace in the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs we celebrate National Women&#8217;s Month, we are reminded of how our nation\u2019s women have played an indispensable role in the Philippine peace process,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Galvez also hailed the women who exhibit the courage to break \u201cbarriers and stereotypes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He also lauded them for being actively involved in \u201call aspects of peace-building,\u201d which include conflict prevention and resolution, negotiation and signing of agreements, and social healing and reconciliation.<\/p>\n<p>Galvez also thanked the women who have continued to help build a \u201djust, kind and tolerant society,\u201d as well as to promote the culture of \u201cpeace, mutual understanding, healing, reconciliation and unity\u201c in the country.<\/p>\n<p>He stressed that women\u2019s hard work, dedication, and leadership have helped \u201cheal the wounds of the past, put an end to the decades-long armed conflict in the country, and create an environment where people can reap the benefits of a just and lasting peace.\u201c<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are indeed a lot of reasons for us to celebrate women\u2019s month,\u201d Galvez said. \u201cAs we celebrate all of these milestones, let us give recognition to our women peace workers and advocates.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Galvez also took the time to express his \u201dheartfelt\u201d honor and gratitude to all the women who have stood up against unfair labor practices; opposed all forms of inequality in society; battled sexual harassment and violence; fought for the right to vote; and served in public office.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn behalf of the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process, we would like to call on all Filipinos to come together, work hand in hand, and help Make Peace Work for Women,\u201d he said.<\/p><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The National Women\u2019s Month Celebration every March is part of the worldwide observance of the International Women\u2019s Day on March 8.<\/p>\n<p>The following issuances serve as legal bases for the annual activity:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Proclamation No. 224 s. 1988 declaring the first week of March each year as Women\u2019s Week and March 8 as Women\u2019s Rights and International Peace Day;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Proclamation No. 227 s. 1988 providing for the observance of the Month of March as Women\u2019s Role in History Month;
