This is the first summer film fest na gagawin natin (that we\u2019re doing),\u201d Lim said.<\/p>\n<p>Aside from awarding prizes to winners of the festival\u2019s several awards categories, he said winning entries will also be given the same incentives as those in previous MMFFs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>I-sponsor natin sa international film fests yung mga awards na ibibigay natin &#8212; kung ilang daan libo yan for this award, ganun din. Ayaw natin masabi na itong summer film fest ay second class kumpara sa ano, dapat pareho yan<\/em>\u00a0(We\u2019ll sponsor the winning entries in international film fests &#8212; if we give out this much for an award, we\u2019ll do the same here. We don\u2019t want anyone to say that the summer film fest is second class compared to another, it should be the same),\u201d Lim said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Featured films<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>During the event, Noel Ferrer, MMFF spokesperson, joined by actress-beauty queen Kylie Verzosa, announced that the eight films will be screened beginning April 11 (Black Saturday) up until April 21.<\/p>\n<p>These films, chosen out of 24 submitted entries, include \u2018A Hard Day,\u2019 an action film starring Dingdong Dantes; Tagpuan, a romance film starring Shaina Magdayao, Alfred Vargas, and Isa Calzado; \u2018Love the Way \u03cb Lie,\u2019 a romantic comedy and fantasy film starring Xian Lim; \u2018Isa Pang Bahaghari,\u2019 a family drama featuring Philip Salvador and Nora Aunor; \u2018Love or Money,\u2019 starring Coco Martin and Angelica Panganiban; \u2018Coming Home,\u2019 a family drama starring Jinggoy Estrada; \u2018Ngayon Kaya,\u2019 a romance featuring Paulo Avelino and Janine Gutierrez; and \u2018The Missing,\u2019 a horror starring Joseph Marco and Ritz Azul.<\/p>\n<p>According to Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte, the SMMFF will officially kick off on April 4 through its Parade of Stars which will feature floats themed after the festival\u2019s eight film entries as well as carry several of the films\u2019 stars.<\/p>\n<p>The parade will begin at 3 p.m. from Welcome Rotonda and will run for seven kilometers via Quezon Avenue eastbound straight towards Quezon Memorial Circle.<\/p>\n<p>To give way to the parade, the eastbound lanes of Quezon Avenue, from Mabuhay Rotonda up to Quezon Memorial Circle, will be closed to vehicular traffic from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>The MMDA said its traffic enforcers as well as those from the Quezon City government will be deployed along the parade route to assist and regulate traffic.<\/p>\n<p>It added that an hour before the parade\u2019s start, the entire stretch of Quezon Avenue\u2019s eastbound lanes will be cleared and illegally parked vehicles will be towed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>LOOK | The first-ever Summer Metro Manila Film Festival (SMMFF) is set to begin this April in a launch event &hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":33,"featured_media":246794,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[2,54365,46],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-246793","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-entertainment","category-instagram","category-entertainment-ph","mauthors-raymond-carl-dela-cruz","mauthors-philippine-news-agency"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/246793","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/33"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=246793"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/246793\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":246795,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/246793\/revisions\/246795"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/246794"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=246793"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=246793"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=246793"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
