(File <a href=\"http:\/\/sc.judiciary.gov.ph\/2271\/\">Photo<\/a>: <a href=\"http:\/\/sc.judiciary.gov.ph\/\">Supreme Court of the Philippines\/Website<\/a>)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>MANILA<\/strong>\u00a0&#8212; President Rodrigo Duterte has named retired chief justice Lucas Bersamin as the new chairperson of the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS).<\/p>\n<p>Duterte signed Bersamin\u2019s appointment paper on February 6, according to a copy of the document released by Malaca\u00f1ang on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Bersamin replaced Ronald Macasaet, who served as officer-in-charge of GSIS.<\/p>\n<p>Duterte also appointed Bersamin as a member of the GSIS board of trustees.<\/p>\n<p>As GSIS board member, Bersamin will serve until June 30, 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Bersamin joined the new presidential appointees that took oath before Duterte at Palace\u2019s Rizal Hall on February 6, photos from Malaca\u00f1ang showed.<\/p>\n<p>In November 2018, Duterte appointed Bersamin as the country&#8217;s top magistrate.
