MANILA<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 The second televised t\u00eat\u00ea-a-t\u00eat\u00ea between President Rodrigo Duterte and Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo has been moved to Jan. 28, Malaca\u00f1ang said on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The one-on-one interview between Duterte and Panelo, which was initially scheduled on Jan. 22, has been rescheduled due to \u201cpressing matters,\u201d the Palace said in an advisory sent to Palace reporters.<\/p>\n

\u201cDue to pressing matters, the t\u00eate-\u00e0-t\u00eate Part 2 of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and Chief Presidential Legal Counsel and Presidential Spokesperson Salvador S. Panelo has been moved to January 28, 2020 at the Rizal Hall, Malaca\u00f1an Palace at 5:00 p.m.,\u201d the media advisory read.<\/p>\n

Panelo\u2019s first t\u00eat\u00ea-a-t\u00eat\u00ea with the President was in September 2018.<\/p>\n

Sought to react to his postponed one-on-one interview with the Chief Executive, Panelo said: \u201cHe (Duterte) didn\u2019t elaborate (on) what pressing matters are.”<\/p>\n

In a text message, Duterte\u2019s former special aide and incumbent Senator Christopher Lawrence Go said the \u201cpressing matters\u201d have something to do with \u201cfamily.\u201d<\/p>\n

Go, however, did not provide additional details.<\/p>\n

Panelo\u2019s scheduled t\u00eat\u00ea-a-t\u00eat\u00ea interview with Duterte at Palace\u2019s Rizal Hall was expected to tackle various issues concerning the country and affecting national interest.<\/p>\n

On Jan. 16, Panelo said the President was prompted to hold another televised interview following the supposed presence of a \u201cserial rapist\u201d in Quezon.<\/p>\n

The President was \u201cinfuriated\u201d over the rape cases in Quezon province, Panelo said.<\/p>\n

Ricardo Burce, a man accused of raping and killing an eight-year-old girl in Candelaria, Quezon, was found dead inside his detention cell on Jan. 15.<\/p>\n

Candelaria police said Burce could have died in his sleep since there were no external injuries found on the body.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
