MANILA<\/strong>\u00a0— President Rodrigo Duterte on Friday extended his condolences to the family of retired police general Francisco Villaroman, who passed away on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Villaroman, 64, died after battling colon cancer, Malaca\u00f1ang said in a press statement.<\/p>\n

Duterte visited Villaroman\u2019s wake at the Davao Cosmopolitan Memorial Chapel in Davao City.<\/p>\n

The President was accompanied by former presidential special aide and now Senator Christopher Lawrence Go, the Palace said.<\/p>\n

\u201cPresident Rodrigo Duterte on Friday evening paid his last respects to retired police general Francisco Villaroman,\u201d Malaca\u00f1ang said.<\/p>\n

\u201cPresident Duterte arrived at the Davao Cosmopolitan Memorial Chapel and offered his condolences to the Chapel and offered his condolences to the Villaroman family,\u201d it added.<\/p>\n

Villaroman, a one-star police general, served as Philippine National Police regional director from 2010 to 2011.<\/p>\n

He was also designated as the head of the Davao City Public Safety and Command Center from 2013 to 2016.<\/p>\n

Villaroman served as Duterte\u2019s security and anti-terrorism consultant when the latter was still mayor of Davao City.<\/p>\n
