(PNA photo of Ruth Abbey Gita-Carlos)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><strong>MANILA<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 The Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) is ready to investigate the issues plaguing the Philippines\u2019 hosting of the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games, the head of the anti-corruption body said on Tuesday.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">PACC chairperson Dante Jimenez said there will be an immediate investigation into the supposed blunders hounding the SEA Games, once a complaint is lodged before his office.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u201cWe&#8217;ll see if there are complaints, if there are some concerns. Anything under the sun. We are ready to look into whether there is really a probable cause and worth really conducting a fact-finding investigation and formal charges,\u201d Jimenez told state media in an interview.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u201cAnyone can complain.\u00a0<em>Basta makita naming merong<\/em>\u00a0(If we see that there is) factual evidence and it\u2019s worth it, we will proceed,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>International football teams have aired concerns over transportation, accommodations, and other logistics prior to the formal opening of the SEA Games on November 30.<\/p>\n<p>On Sunday, Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo warned the Philippine SEA Games Organizing Committee (Phisgoc) that it will be held accountable, if participating athletes once again experience inconvenience during the competitions that will be held from November 30 to December 11.<\/p>\n<p>Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon earlier questioned the PHP50 million spent for the construction of cauldron that will bear the symbolic SEA Games, calling it \u201cextravagance\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>He is also seeking Senate inquiry into SEA Games hosting.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2018Silent motu proprio\u2019 probe eyed<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>While a complaint has yet to be filed, Jimenez said the PACC may launch a \u201cmotu proprio\u201d (on its own) investigation into the supposed mistakes committed by SEA Games organizers.<\/p>\n<p>Jimenez, however, still acknowledged the need for any complainant to formally lodge a case against those who are responsible for the SEA Games woes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell in a way yes,\u00a0<em>siguro<\/em>\u00a0(perhaps) silently,\u201d the PACC chair said, when quizzed if his office will conduct a motu proprio investigation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cActually, honestly, I\u2019m still studying\u00a0<em>\u2018yung mga nagha<\/em>handle ng (those who are handling) SEA Games.\u00a0<em>Palipasin muna natin \u2018tong<\/em>\u00a0games<em>\u00a0na &#8216;to pero<\/em>\u00a0(Let\u2019s wait for the conclusion of the games but) we&#8217;re open to receiving complaints,\u201d Jimenez added.<\/p>\n<p>Jimenez said anyone is welcome to file a complaint with supporting documents that would prove any irregularities in the Philippines\u2019 hosting of SEA Games.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey have to be brave enough to open and submit any complaints to us,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut we need of course more concrete ones like affidavit,\u00a0<em>mga<\/em>\u00a0evidence,\u00a0<em>mga<\/em>\u00a0complaint,\u00a0<em>mga ganoon ba<\/em>\u00a0(affidavit, evidence, complaint, and the likes).\u00a0<em>Hindi namin kailangan na manghula-hula lang. Sinabi ni<\/em>\u00a0newspaper\u00a0<em>ganito, sinabi ng tang ito. Hindi pwedeng ganoon<\/em>\u00a0(We don\u2019t need to guess based on newspaper\u2019s report and a person\u2019s claim. That\u2019s not acceptable),\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Jimenez said the PACC would wait for the conclusion of the 30th SEA Games before acting on the issue.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cSiguro palipasin muna. Para bang ano iyan eh, pagbigyan natin muna ang ating mga<\/em>\u00a0athletes to perform well,\u00a0<em>pagdasal natin<\/em>\u00a0(Perhaps, we\u2019ll wait for its conclusion. Let\u2019s give the athletes some time to perform well.
