ROBINSON NI\u00d1AL JR.\/PRESIDENTIAL PHOTO<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>MANILA<\/strong>\u00a0&#8212; Domestic household workers\u00a0<em>(kasambahays)<\/em>\u00a0in Metro Manila may get an increase in their salaries soon.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe regional tripartite wage board here in Metro Manila submitted a wage adjustment of I think PHP1,500,\u201d Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III said in a press conference on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Once implemented, the wage for domestic workers will be PHP5,000.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo originally, it was PHP3,500 for our\u00a0<em>kasambahays<\/em>\u00a0in Metro Manila. It is now PHP5,000 for our\u00a0<em>kasambahays<\/em>,\u201d the DOLE chief added.<\/p>\n<p>He said they expect the approval of the wage adjustment to be out soon.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLast November 8, a meeting was held. I think it should be due now.<em>\u00a0Lalabas na iyon<\/em>\u00a0(decision)\u00a0<em>kasi umabot na \u2018yung<\/em>\u00a0anniversary\u00a0<em>nila<\/em>\u00a0(The decision will be out soon because the salary adjustment already reached its anniversary). So, anytime<em>\u00a0lalabas na iyan<\/em>\u00a0(it will be released),\u201d Bello added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was approved by the wage board regional but the final approval would be the National Wages and Productivity Commission.
