MANILA<\/strong>\u00a0— Vice President Leni Robredo\u2019s plan to report on what she discovered about the drug war is \u201cunnecessary\u201d, Senator Panfilo Lacson said Monday following the former\u2019s dismissal as co-chair of the Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs (ICAD).<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s her call. But\u00a0sa akin<\/em>\u00a0(for me) I don\u2019t think it\u2019s still necessary,\u201d Lacson said in an ambush interview.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat for? Dahil binigyan ka ng katungkulan na gagampanan mo, ngayong natanggal ka, isisiwalat mo ang mga natuklasan mo (Because you were given a position, and now that you were dismissed, you will divulge what you discovered)?,\u201d Lacson said.<\/p>\n

The senator also said reporting on the drug war might just worsen the political divide.<\/p>\n

\u201cAlam naman nating naging<\/em>\u00a0politicized\u00a0ang<\/em>\u00a0war on drugs\u00a0kasi<\/em>\u00a0at the outset\u00a0may mga hindi sang-ayon sa<\/em>\u00a0methodology (We all know that the war on drugs was politicized because at the outset, there are those who were against the methodology). And\u00a0ngayon dahil nangyaring na<\/em>-appoint\u00a0si<\/em>\u00a0VP Robredo\u00a0parang lalo ma<\/em>-aggravate\u00a0ang<\/em>\u00a0political divide (now that Robredo was appointed, it seemed that the political divide got more aggravated,\u201d Lacson said.<\/p>\n

\u201cYan na nga. Kung gagawin ganoon lalong lalala, ang<\/em>\u00a0wedge\u00a0lalapad<\/em>\u00a0(If she makes the report, it would worsen, the wedge will widen),\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Nevertheless, the chair of the Senate Committee National Defense and Security, Peace, Unification and Reconciliation said if ever Robredo pushes through with her plans, she should be careful on what information she will divulge.<\/p>\n

\u201cKailangan i<\/em>-justify\u00a0niya rin<\/em>\u00a0(She also has to justify it). If it is to destroy or impede the anti-illegal drugs campaign,\u00a0huwag naman sana<\/em>\u00a0(I hope not).\u00a0Pero kung natuklasan niya para ma-<\/em>enhance (But if what she discovered will enhance) the fight against illegal drugs, then by all means,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cPero kung may nakita siyang pagkakamali<\/em>\u00a0(But if she found lapses) that would point to several persons that could be held criminally liable,\u00a0dapat noong nasa<\/em>\u00a0position\u00a0siya<\/em>\u00a0(it should have been when she was still in position,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
