The Impact Assessment Agency of Canada (the Agency) is conducting a federal environmental assessment for the\u00a0Jeanne D’Arc Basin Exploration Drilling Project<\/a>, proposed by Husky Oil Operations Ltd. and ExxonMobil Canada Ltd., located approximately 350\u00a0kilometres offshore, east of St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador.<\/p>\n

The Agency invites the public and Indigenous groups to comment on the\u00a0draft Environmental Assessment Report<\/a>, which includes the Agency’s conclusions and recommendations regarding the potential environmental effects of the project and their significance, the proposed mitigation measures, and the follow-up program.<\/p>\n

The Agency also invites comments on the\u00a0potential environmental assessment conditions<\/a>\u00a0for the project. Final conditions would become legally-binding on the proponents if the project is allowed to proceed.<\/p>\n

This project has benefited from several public and Indigenous consultation opportunities. This is the final public comment period in the process.<\/p>\n

Written comments in either official language will be accepted until January 3,\u00a02020.<\/p>\n

Comments can be submitted online by visiting the\u00a0project home page<\/a>\u00a0on the Canadian Impact Assessment Registry (reference number\u00a080130<\/a>). All comments received will be published online as part of the project file.<\/p>\n

Following the public comment period, the Environmental Assessment Report and potential environmental assessment conditions will be finalized and provided to the Minister of Environment and Climate Change, along with comments received.
