MANILA<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 President Rodrigo Duterte on Sunday conferred the Kampilan medal on five Army soldiers who were wounded in military operations carried out against Islamic insurgents in war-torn Mindanao.<\/div>\n

Duterte paid a visit on the wounded soldiers at the Metro Davao Medical Research Center on early Sunday morning to check their condition after the bloody encounter with the rebels.<\/div>\n

\u201cHe (Duterte) then conferred the Order of Lapu-Lapu, Rank of Kampilan on the injured members of the security forces,\u201d Malaca\u00f1ang said in a press statement.<\/p>\n

The soldiers sustained injuries in separate clashes against the members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters and the Dawlah Islamiyah Turaife Group in rural parts of Mindanao.<\/div>\n
