RICHARD MADELO\/PRESIDENTIAL PHOTO<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>MANILA<\/strong>\u00a0&#8212; Instead of going on a three-day break from work, President Rodrigo Duterte will work from the comforts of his home in Davao City, Malaca\u00f1ang said on Monday night.<\/p>\n<p>Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo clarified his earlier announcement that Duterte will take three days off from work to rest upon the advice of his doctors, friends, and colleagues.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe President has declined the suggestion of well-meaning friends to have a rest for a few days,\u201d Panelo said in a statement, admitting that he merely \u201cspeculated\u201d in his initial remark.<\/p>\n<p>He, however, assured the public that the President knows how to take care of himself amid the \u201cdemands of pressing work\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe people can rest assured that the President can keep up with the same and is in the best position to know how he can maintain to be on top of his health,\u201d Panelo said.<\/p>\n<p>The President has been experiencing pain in his back due to a minor motorcycle accident at the Presidential Security Group (PSG) compound last Oct. 16.<\/p>\n<p>Panelo said the President will attend the wake of business tycoon John Gokongwei, Jr. on Monday night.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Chief Executive will fly to Davao tonight after attending to the wake of the late John Gokongwei, Jr. at the Heritage and will continue working at his residence there,\u201d Panelo said.<\/p>\n<p>Panelo clarified his earlier statement about the President going on a leave.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cPero mali na balita na may<\/em>\u00a0three-day leave\u00a0<em>siya. Wala siyang<\/em>\u00a0leave.\u00a0<em>Hindi siya mag-li-<\/em>leave.\u00a0<em>Magtatrabaho lang siya sa<\/em>\u00a0Davao\u00a0<em>sa bahay niya. Marami siyang<\/em>\u00a0backlog,\u00a0<em>maraming<\/em>\u00a0paperwork (The news that he\u2019s going on a three-day leave is wrong. He doesn\u2019t have any leaves. He won\u2019t file a leave. He\u2019ll work in his home in Davao. He has a lot of backlogs, a lot of paperwork),\u201d Panelo said in an interview over DZMM.<\/p>\n<p>He said Duterte preferred to work from home away from the distraction due to the number of people who wanted to meet with him in Malaca\u00f1ang.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cKapag sa<\/em>\u00a0Malaca\u00f1ang,\u00a0<em>eh maraming istorbo sa<\/em>\u00a0Malaca\u00f1ang.<em>\u00a0Madaming gustong makipag-usap sa kanya, gustong may<\/em>\u00a0private meeting.\u00a0<em>Hindi talaga siya makakapagpahinga.
