KING RODRIGUEZ\/PRESIDENTIAL PHOTO<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>MANILA<\/strong>\u00a0&#8212; Upon the advice of his doctor, President Rodrigo Duterte will be taking a three-day break from his \u201cpunishing\u201d work schedule this week, Malaca\u00f1ang said on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Citing Duterte\u2019s former aide, Senator Christopher \u201cBong\u201d Go, Panelo said the President will start resting for three days on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Panelo emphasized that Duterte\u2019s schedule is \u201csubject to change without prior notice.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cSabi ni Bong and di naman siya nag<\/em>-disagree\u00a0<em>dahil tatlo kaming magka-usap, mga<\/em>\u00a0three days (Bong said and he didn\u2019t disagree because the three of us were talking, he will rest for three days),\u201d Panelo said in a Palace briefing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell upon the advice of friends, of colleagues in the world scene, and most likely upon the advice of the doctors to take a rest week from his punishing schedule,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Panelo, however, clarified that the 74-year-old President was not taking a leave due to any medical concern, but simply to catch up on sleep.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cNapapansin ko kay Presidente<\/em>\u00a0(What I noticed from the President), as I told him every time you have eight-hour sleep,\u00a0<em>ang ganda ng hitsura mo e. Palagay ko yun lang ang kulang niya<\/em>\u00a0(You look good. I think that\u2019s what he lacks),\u201d Panelo said.<\/p>\n<p>The Palace official said Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea will be designated as caretaker should the President files a leave of absence from work.<\/p>\n<p>However, Panelo said he has to personally ask the President himself whether he will push through with his planned three-day break.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cKung merong<\/em>\u00a0caretaker,\u00a0<em>e di may<\/em>\u00a0official leave.\u00a0<em>Kung wala, pahinga-pahing<\/em>a (If there will be a caretaker, then it will be an official leave.
