{"id":237080,"date":"2019-11-11T01:28:11","date_gmt":"2019-11-11T06:28:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/?p=237080"},"modified":"2019-11-11T01:28:11","modified_gmt":"2019-11-11T06:28:11","slug":"toyotas-p1-m-puv-for-smaller-streets-dotr","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/2019\/11\/11\/toyotas-p1-m-puv-for-smaller-streets-dotr\/","title":{"rendered":"Toyota\u2019s P1-M PUV for smaller streets: DOTr"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FDOTrPH%2Fposts%2F1512955755510222&amp;width=500\" width=\"500\" height=\"814\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><br \/>\n<strong>MANILA<\/strong>\u00a0&#8212; The Department of Transportation (DOTr) said Toyota Motor Philippines Corporation\u2019s (Toyota) recently unveiled 12-seater modern public utility vehicle (PUV) is meant to serve in the country\u2019s inner-city roads and smaller municipalities.<\/p>\n<p>In a Facebook post on Sunday, the agency clarified that the Toyota Hilux Class 1 modern PUV, with a price tag of PHP998,000, was meant for narrow barangay, municipal, or provincial roads due to its smaller size and more affordable price.<\/p>\n<p>This, after some netizens aired concerns that the newly-unveiled prototype PUV could add to the country\u2019s worsening traffic congestion due to its smaller passenger capacity compared to existing PUVs in major roads.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Hindi po talaga ito kalakihan<\/em>. It will depend on the operator<em>\u00a0kung ito po ang pipiliin nilang bilhin depende sa ruta at pangangailangan nila<\/em>\u00a0(This is not large. It\u2019s up to the operator if they will choose to buy this depending on their route and their needs). If operators want a more spacious and bigger unit, they can opt to purchase a Class 2 vehicle,\u201d the DOTr statement said.<\/p>\n<p>Their showcase of Toyota\u2019s Class 1 PUV, the DOTr said, was also meant to prove that the government\u2019s PUV modernization program need not be overly expensive.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Gusto lang po namin maintindihan ng marami na hindi totoong lahat ng<\/em>\u00a0units\u00a0<em>eh<\/em>\u00a0PHP2 to 2.6 million<em>\u00a0pataas. May mas mura pong<\/em>\u00a0options. (We just want people to understand it\u2019s not true all PUV units cost PHP 2 to 2.6 million or up.
