It\u2019s open to the public),\u201d Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said in an interview with dzIQ.<\/p>\n<p>The Palace official made the statement, when asked about the possibility that Vice President Leni Robredo, as co-chairperson of the Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs (ICAD), might use the confidential information about the government\u2019s conduct of drug war against the President and his administration.<\/p>\n<p>Panelo stressed that the intelligence report obtained by law enforcement agencies merely contains particulars of the drug personalities.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cKapag sinabi mong<\/em>\u00a0intelligence report,\u00a0<em>sino ang mga<\/em>\u00a0involved\u00a0<em>sa droga ang nandoon at yun naman ang sinusundan lahat ng ahensya so ano naman ang masama doon<\/em>\u00a0(When you say intelligence report, it includes details about those involved in illegal drugs. And all law enforcement agencies rely on that. So, what\u2019s wrong with that)?\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Duterte appointed Robredo as ICAD co-chairperson until June 30, 2022, after being piqued by the Vice President\u2019s recent claim that his drug war is \u201cobviously not working.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday, Robredo said she will meet with officials of the United States (US) and the United Nations (UN) to discuss the Duterte administration\u2019s war on illegal drugs.<\/p>\n<p>Her latest statement came, even as she earlier preferred to first solve the drug problem in the country \u201cinternally,\u201d before asking foreign interventions.<\/p>\n<p>The US, under the leadership of American President Donald Trump, has praised Duterte for an \u201cunbelievable job\u201d in handling the drug problem in the Philippines.<\/p>\n<p>The UN, meantime, has been critical of Duterte\u2019s drug war. On July 17, the UN Human Rights Council adopted the Iceland-led resolution that seeks a probe into the anti-narcotics campaign initiated by the President.<\/p>\n<p>Sought to react to Robredo\u2019s openness to working with the US and the UN, Panelo reiterated the Palace\u2019s stance that it would let the Vice President to act alone as the country\u2019s drug czar.<\/p>\n<p>The Palace official also maintained that Robredo\u2019s \u201cbackers\u201d should refrain from interfering in the government\u2019s fight against illegal drugs.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cHayaan natin si<\/em>\u00a0VP Leni as drug czar\u00a0<em>na gumawa ng kanyang diskarte. Hindi pupwede kasi yung mga maraming<\/em>\u00a0quarter backers, nitpickers,\u00a0<em>maraming haka-haka, maraming mga spekulasyon<\/em>\u00a0(Let VP Leni do her own strategy as drug czar. There should be no many quarter backers, nitpickers, rumors, and speculations),\u201d Panelo said.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cHayaan natin muna mag-trabaho yung ale, pabayaan natin, suportahan natin<\/em>. (Let her do her job. Support her but let her act alone),\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Robredo accepted the challenge to lead the government\u2019s anti-narcotics campaign, but stressed that she would not allow the \u201csenseless\u201d killings of drug personalities in the country.<\/p>\n<p>Asked if the Vice President\u2019s planned zero-casualty on drug war is \u201cdoable,\u201d Panelo said it would be up to her strategies.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cSiya ang didiskarte diyan kung ano ang dapat na ipatupad niya bilang isang puno ng isang ahensya na magpapatupad ng lahat ng batas laban sa mga<\/em>\u00a0involved\u00a0<em>sa droga<\/em>\u00a0(It depends on her strategies as the head of the committee that will implement all the laws against those involved in illegal drugs),\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cHindi pa nga nagu-umpisa, binibigyan na natin ng<\/em>\u00a0roadblock (She is yet to formally perform her duties, and yet, we\u2019re already giving her a roadblock).
