Photo courtesy of MMDA&#8217;s official Facebook page.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>MANILA &#8212; Due to the number of colorum and out-of-line vehicles apprehended by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), the agency&#8217;s impounding area is now congested, an MMDA official said on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview, Emerson Carlos, MMDA assistant general manager for operations said the impounding area in Tumana, Markina City is now almost full.<\/p>\n<p>Based on the latest count, Crisanto Saruka, head of the MMDA\u2019s Traffic Discipline Office, they have impounded a total of 141 colorum and out of line public utility vehicles along Edsa since the \u201cOplan Disiplina\u201d campaign started last August 6.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The apprehended public utility vehicles were composed of 127 public utility buses (PUBs) and 14 Asian Utility vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>As the apprehension continue, the MMDA assistant general manager for operations, admitted that they need more space to accommodate more impounded vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>According to Carlos, the impounding area in Tumana, Markina City is now almost full has to undergo further development and they are also looking for alternative impounding sites.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our plan is to expand because the impounding area in Marikina is quite wide, we will just develop it,&#8221; he added.Carlos said the two-hectare impounding site in Marikina has a capacity of 500 vehicles but it is now filled by around 400 impounded jeepneys, taxis, AUVs, and buses unredeemed by owners\/operators.<\/p>\n<p>Apart from Marikina, the MMDA has two other impounding areas in Ultra in Pasig City and Libertad in Pasay.<\/p>\n<p>The out-of-line and \u201ccolorum\u201d vehicles were apprehended under the agency\u2019s campaign dubbed \u201cOplan Disiplina\u201d aimed at easing traffic flow on Edsa and other major thoroughfares.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, MMDA chairman Francis Tolentino said they are looking for alternative impounding sites.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MANILA &#8212; Due to the number of colorum and out-of-line vehicles apprehended by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), the &hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":44,"featured_media":14267,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[1482,95],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-23525","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-breaking","category-news-ph","mauthors-christopher-lloyd-t-caliwan","mauthors-philippines-news-agency"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/23525","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/44"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=23525"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/23525\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/14267"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=23525"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=23525"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=23525"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
