{"id":234131,"date":"2019-10-10T22:28:02","date_gmt":"2019-10-11T02:28:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/?p=234131"},"modified":"2019-10-10T22:28:02","modified_gmt":"2019-10-11T02:28:02","slug":"tucp-asks-manila-mayor-to-help-displaced-isetann-workers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/2019\/10\/10\/tucp-asks-manila-mayor-to-help-displaced-isetann-workers\/","title":{"rendered":"TUCP asks Manila mayor to help displaced Isetann workers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FManilaPIO%2Fposts%2F692227461261946&amp;width=500\" width=\"500\" height=\"738\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><br \/>\n<strong>MANILA<\/strong>\u00a0&#8212; A workers group on Thursday appealed to Manila Mayor Francisco &#8220;Isko Moreno&#8221; Domagoso to look after the welfare of employees of Isetann Mall in Recto which he ordered closed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe respect the executive judgment prerogative of Yorme Isko to shut down the entire operations of Isetann department store over the management\u2019s non-compliance with city ordinances,\u201d said Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (TUCP) President Raymond Mendoza in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe support his bold resolve to address the city\u2019s deeply-seated problems but we hope there\u2019s a way forward to restore the jobs of Isetann employees or some kind of assistance for them while they have no income,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Mendoza noted that the employees are the ones who suffer the most due to the mall owners&#8217; failure to comply with city ordinances.<\/p>\n<p>Among those economically affected by the closure order, he said are employees such as salesladies and rank-and-file who are covered by the \u2018no-work, no-pay\u2019 policy.<\/p>\n<p>The labor group official, meanwhile, urged the Isetann management to immediately comply with requirements of the city ordinance in order to lift the closure ban and for workers to return to work.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBecause Isetann management did not abide with the law, the employees lose their salaries and wages.
