Photo by fry_theonly \/ Flickr.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>MANILA &#8212;\u00a0Nora Aunor will be the 10<sup>th<\/sup> recipient of the University of the Philippines\u2019 (UP) Gawad Plaridel, the highest honor given by the university to an outstanding practitioner.<\/p>\n<p>The trophy, designed by National Artist Napoleon Abueva, will be presented to the Superstar on August 27.<\/p>\n<p>Aunor is being recognized for her brilliance in television and film.<\/p>\n<p>She is also the recipient of lifetime achievements awards from the Film Development Foundation of the Philippines\u2019 Haligi ng Industriya (1997), and the Film Academy of the Philippines\u2019 citation (1994) for film, as well as the Helen Vela Award (2004), Ading Fernando Award (2001), and Vic Silayan Award (1997) for TV.<\/p>\n<p>Aside from being a multi-awarded actress, Aunor also produced acclaimed films through NV Productions and NCV Productions which include \u201cCarmela,\u201d \u201cParu-parong Itim,\u201d \u201cTatlong Taong Walang Diyos,\u201d \u201cBona,\u201d \u201cCondemned,\u201d \u201cAndrea,\u201d and \u201cPacita M.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Aunor also experienced working with Lamberto Avellana, Gerardo de Leon, Lino Brocka, and Ishmael Bernal. These four directors eventually became National Artists for Film.<\/p>\n<p>The annual UP Gawad Plaridel was established by the UP College of Mass Communications.<\/p>\n<p>The awards are given to exceptional Filipino media practitioners and those who have performed with professional integrity for public service.
