(<a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/scazon\/3080562507\/in\/photostream\/\">File Photo<\/a>: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/scazon\/\">Scazon\/Flickr<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/creativecommons.org\/licenses\/by\/2.0\/\">CC BY 2.0<\/a>)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The province of Saskatchewan has expanded the list of in-demand occupations associated with both its Express Entry and In-Demand Occupation sub-categories, from 19 occupations to more than 200.<span id=\"more-12805\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>These are two popular streams within the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/saskatchewan-provincial-nominee-program.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program<\/a>\u00a0(SINP) that do not require a job offer or work experience in Canada in order for a candidate to be eligible.<\/p>\n<p>One of these streams, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/sinp-international-skilled-worker-category.html#InternationalSkilledWorker-SaskatchewanExpressEntry\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Express Entry sub-category<\/a>, is for candidates who also have a profile in Canada\u2019s federal Express Entry pool.<\/p>\n<p>Candidates in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/express-entry.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Express Entry pool<\/a>\u00a0who obtain a provincial nomination through the SINP\u2019s Express Entry sub-category are awarded an additional 600 points towards their ranking score, effectively guaranteeing an invitation to apply for Canadian permanent residence.<\/p>\n<p>The other stream, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/sinp-international-skilled-worker-category.html#OccupationIn-Demand\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">In-Demand Occupation Sub-Category,<\/a>\u00a0is available to candidates who are not in the Express Entry pool. If nominated, these candidates would apply for permanent residence outside of Express Entry, which is generally slower by comparison.<\/p>\n<p>Both immigration sub-categories require work experience in an eligible high-skilled occupation, among other criteria.<\/p>\n<p>A high-skilled occupation is one that is\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canada.ca\/en\/immigration-refugees-citizenship\/services\/immigrate-canada\/express-entry\/eligibility\/find-national-occupation-code.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">rated<\/a>\u00a0skill level A or B or Skill Type 0 under Canada\u2019s National Occupational Classification, or NOC.<\/p>\n<p>Rather than listing the occupations that are now eligible, the SINP is only listing the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/publications.saskatchewan.ca\/api\/v1\/products\/102709\/formats\/113851\/download\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">129 occupations that are excluded<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This leaves more than 200 occupations that may now be eligible.<\/p>\n<p>Both Express Entry candidates and individuals considering immigrating to Saskatchewan through the In-Demand Occupation Sub-Category must register a separate\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/saskatchewan-expression-of-interest-eoi-system.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Expression of Interest<\/a>\u00a0with the SINP.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese SINP streams have long been a great pathway for eligible candidates, albeit with work experience in a very limited number of occupations, to pursue nomination and then permanent residence in Canada,\u201d said David Cohen, senior partner with the Campbell Cohen Canadian immigration law firm in Montreal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOpening these streams to many more occupations has the potential to benefit Saskatchewan\u2019s labour market as well as the highly skilled candidates who dream of a life in Canada and whose occupations are now on the list.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The first step towards pursuing a nomination through Saskatchewan\u2019s Express Entry sub-category is to submit an Express Entry profile into the federal pool.<\/p>\n<p>In order to be considered under Saskatchewan\u2019s Occupation In-Demand Sub-Category, candidates must first create a profile in Saskatchewan\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/saskatchewan-expression-of-interest-eoi-system.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Expression of Interest system<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a9 2019 CICNews All Rights Reserved<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The province of Saskatchewan has expanded the list of in-demand occupations associated with both its Express Entry and In-Demand Occupation &hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":33,"featured_media":231465,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[6],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-231441","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-immigration","mauthors-cic-news"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/231441","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/33"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=231441"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/231441\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":231468,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/231441\/revisions\/231468"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/231465"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=231441"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=231441"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=231441"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
