{"id":22877,"date":"2014-08-19T21:57:03","date_gmt":"2014-08-19T13:57:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/?p=22877"},"modified":"2014-08-19T23:23:32","modified_gmt":"2014-08-19T15:23:32","slug":"gdp-growth-in-q2-promising-says-dof","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/2014\/08\/19\/gdp-growth-in-q2-promising-says-dof\/","title":{"rendered":"GDP growth in Q2 promising, says DOF"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_22878\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-22878\" style=\"width: 240px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/DOF.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-22878\" src=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/DOF.jpg\" alt=\"Department of Finance \/  Photo Courtesy of dof.gov.ph\" width=\"240\" height=\"137\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-22878\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Department of Finance \/ Photo Courtesy of dof.gov.ph<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>MANILA &#8212; The Department of Finance (DOF) announced that the economic growth of the country during the second quarter has recovered to about 7 percent, making the Philippines one of Asia\u2019s best performers after a slow start this year.<\/p>\n<p>According to DOH Undersecretary and chief economist Gil Beltran, the manufacturing output numbers released last week showed higher gross domestic product (GDP) growth during the months of April to June.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe rise in manufacturing growth foreshadows a possible return to 7-percent real growth in the second quarter,\u201d Beltran said.<\/p>\n<p>The Philippine economy growth stands at 5.7 percent during the first quarter of the year, lower than the state\u2019s target of 6.5 to 7.5 percent. In the same period, the manufacturing sector, which accounts for one-fifth of the output, only grew by 4.3 percent.<\/p>\n<p>For the second quarter, the manufacturing sector grew by 13 percent. Beltran also added that sales were 50 percent higher.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis means that the sector continued to draw down from inventory as in the first quarter.
